Question

Hey all, looking at grabbing the Arlo Video Doorbell. Will this be an issue as ive already got 4 cameras and dont pay subscription (i didnt really want to) so does the door bell require more "camera allowances" to work?

With the video doorbell you have to be a paying memeber to access the video

Yeah after more research i dont want a wired one anyway. I only use 4 cameras currently so i can still get 1 more on basic.

@siltstone you can get the audio door bell and have it tie into one of your cameras. For me it worked just as good

@siltstone also of you want to get around the 5 camera "allowance" get a 2nd base station created a 2nd arlo account with a different email address and share permissions between the 2 accounts

Yes got a month or 2 free but after that you have to pay. I thought I would not have to because I only had the 5 cameras but I had to pay.

For sure, I was told the video door bell was not a camera, if it walks like a camera and talks like a camera its a camera.

@mathildamathilde but everywhere says basic/free is up to 5 cameras. So is the doorbell your 6th?

I don’t think they helped their product when they left netgear to go on their own. The deal was 5 cameras you get a week’s storage. 8 months ago I e-mailed Arlo and asked what about a video door bell camera, they said it was not in their future plans. I said are you nuts ? 2 months later there it was a arlo video camera. First chance I got in Canada I ordered it at a good price , alas they said I could not get it at this time. Later it was available at a lot more money so I ordered it thinking it would be my 5th camera so still the one week free storage would apply but no the arlo video door bell camera is not a camera according to Arlo. Your call ? Sounds like a good company going south
