Question about healthcare savings- how much do you all think is a reasonable savings goal for health emergencies? My annual deductible is $2800 so I want to have at least that, but do you recommend more? how much? I'm a nurse and am very worried about getting injured and being unable to work/going into debt. I'm also pretty sure I'll need foot surgery in the next couple of years, so I'll need to take about 6-8 weeks off per foot so I can heal before going back to work, and I don't know if short term disability would cover me. Thanks!

I would at least have the deductible, it all depends on how many people in your family and what your needs are. My job offers an FSA and I chose the max amount ($2, 700) because even though my deductible is only $100 per family member (5 of us) my kids and husband do sports and every year we have an injury, also 2 of us use contacts and 3 of us use glasses. In other words we spend a lot of healthcare. It’s only May and of the $2, 700, we only have $450 left

Thanks! I'm only insuring myself but it is daunting to need so much money. I have a HSA but still. Ugh. Although thankfully my montly premium is 0, so I will hopefully get the deductible saved ASAP.

I put $150 a pay in. I am paid bi-weekly. I currently have over 5, 000 in my HSA
