If you didn’t choose direct deposit they will put your benefits on that card and you can go to the bank and use that like a debit card to get your money

@wilhoit66 is it from this key2benefits? The card came from Ohio and it doesn’t say anything about it being related to unemployment except when you call it says state issued funds

@wilhoit66 they never even told me I was approved for unemployment

You must of been approved because that’s the card. I got the card and went back into the website and gave them my bank info. I heard you get your money a lot faster if you do it that way

Yes they send it when you apply. I’m self employed and received a card but haven’t been approved yet.

Okay thanks everyone! I called and set up a pin but the balance is zero so guessing I haven’t been approved yet? Do you check the unemployment website?

So, on the Unemployment website, set up direct deposit. Also, you won’t get any money till you certify, on your certification day.

I got my deposit, 2 days after I certified.

@derisible thanks I’ll have to look at the website tonight. What is a certification day? Do I get notification? I’ve received nothing in mail but this card ‍♀️

So, I applied via phone, and they told me I needed to call this number 312-338-4337, and verify that I can’t work due to corona virus. I want to say it was nearly 2 weeks from the day I applied for unemployment. However, the lady that helped me told me the day to call back, and obviously I did. If you don’t check in every two weeks thereafter, you’ll lose your benefits. That being said, Chicago Service Industry workers are posting that they’re getting a letter mail with a certification date that’s past. So, I’d call, and try to get your certification date, otherwise it could be a mess.

Also, there’s a trick question when you’re certifying. Say Yes!

Thank you! I’ll try to call tomorrow. I’m a substitute teacher and the district told me to apply

What information is needed to file for unemployment? My mom asked me to fill it out for her but I want to make sure she sends me whatever ever documents before I start. That way I don’t have to call her back and forth.

@plow693 I think I just needed my social and my work info. They ask a few questions on approx how much you make, etc

@wilhoit66 thank you! How about pictures of IDs or check stubs?

Yes it will say 0. You will get money but not till after you certify. I think I was able to about a week and a half after I got the card? They should email you or send you a letter in the mail and tell you the certification date. Or you can just go on the website and keep trying. (Top right hand corner)It won’t let you if it’s not your day though.

I got the card but I switched to direct deposit. I haven’t been paid yet on either. I certified for the the first time last week so I’m hoping any day now.

Just curious how long ago did you apply?
by (4.4k points)
@taveras I applied only 1-2 weeks ago. Have yet to see if I qualify though. Not sure why they send card when you aren’t approved! Gets your hopes up!

Anyone have experience being accepted and receiving funds when you’ve been a part time employee up until the shut down? I was substitute teaching before schools closed
