Up until recently my results tab would correlate with when my pixel would fire. However lately I see an inflated # of results across all my campaigns that does not match with the actual pixel fires I am achieving. I’ve been advertising since 2017 and this issue started in 2020. I am coming up short trying to find out why this is happening. It poses a big problem because I have no idea how to track actual performance and thus optimize accordingly. Has anyone experienced the same issue?

Yes our pixel id was hijacked and placed on other domains. You can block from there.

@ferroelectric That would make sense. How can I block the other sites?

@ferroelectric and is there a way to block that from happening moving forward?

@alleyway if you have a Business Manager set up its Business Settings > Data Sources > Events Manager > there is a button sitting on the RHS above the table in the drop down click domains there will be a list of 50 domains if you see strange domains sitting there, hover over the domain with Curser and a BLOCK action appears in the field

@ferroelectric Thank you so much. This is extremely helpful. I was able to block 4 domains. Any idea what causes this?

I usually copy and past the domain into a browser to find out what site the pixel is on. Make sure you have “Pixel Helper” installed as a chrome extension. You can see what events they are targeting. it’s the first stage of a hacker to collect data and possibly end up Mirroring your site.

@alleyway I always check all my clients data every few days like this. It’s a way of protecting them as well

@ferroelectric Interesting. Yes I do have the pixel helper installed. Originally FB support said it might have to do with my attribution window settings however I researched and didn’t see how that would create this variance in data.

@alleyway if you found 4 domains with your pixel embedded that would skew your data but it also suggests they could be leading up to something more serious. The recent ones I found were placed on affiliate selling sites > a global server redirect site THEN the last 3 were complete Mirrored site. I searched their code and they had even set up a paypal in the payment journey.  total # of sites 13

@ferroelectric I very much appreciate your help and insight. I’ll keep an eye on this.
