Because of lockdown we're obviously not going on holiday this year. We've tidied our garden. We were talking about surprising the kids with a backyard beach when it's good weather. The only thing we don't have is sand. Can anyone recommend what type of sand or any substitute that won't cost a fortune please? Lol. Its literally the only thing we need. (including large paddling pool, bunting, inflatable palm tree, beach chairs, sun shader. )

Just be careful with sand make sure you can cover it when not in use cos the cats will use it as a toilet. (Sorry I can’t recommend a sort of sand . )

Argos, if still delivering, smyths again if they deliver do children's play sand. But do keep it covered as the cats love it as a toilet

Play sand is best. It doesn't sane clothes and is cleaned so won't be a problem if eaten (god forbid but kids do) Tesco usually sell it £3. 00 a bag but not been out during lock down so wouldn't know. Use a fitted sheet at night to cover it up

I usually get play sand from Smyths for £2. 50 a bag, it takes 4 or 5 bags to fill my daughters sand pit, but unfortunately the sand isn’t ( or wasn’t when I wanted some) available for home delivery, so I ordered from Argos at £5 a bag, had to wait about 6 days for delivery

I found Argos the only real choice when I ordered about 2 weeks ago, everywhere else either didn’t deliver, was out of stock or inflated prices

Play sand. Don’t buy builders sand that’s cheaper. It’s not suitable for children x

Play sand is the best. It should be non staining and non toxic. Argos do bags of it and I think Tesco.

OK so we're officially put off sand as we would just put it down on the concrete and don't want cats pooping on it and we were worried about it blowing away anyway lol. Having a think about what we can use instead but plenty of time while we wait for a hot weekend

If you put sand make sure you cover it as cats use the sandpit as a toilet can pass onto children

Make your own bunting out of scraps of material and some ribbon or string . Depending on age of children u cud use a small tent, throw in a few bags of sand then they won’t get sun burn and u can zip up the play tent at night so pets don’t use it as a toilet .
