Really after some advice, I've extended our decking and the old one is faded and a different colour, I've given it a pressure wash which helped but far from the same colour. Im wondering if I was to stain it like a natural/oak colour would they both stain the same colour? If I paint it obviously it would but is staining still a option? At the moment paint is our first choice. Anyone with experience etc able to point me in the right direction?

It will weather in time. But you could try osmo natural oil woodstain in grey. Good stuff

@henrie62 you used it on decking mate?

@turban8857 not the grey but I used oregon pine on my scaf board decking. Mainly because I had it at the start of lock down. Can't say it's been down long enough first hand, but from the reading I did it seems top notch stuff. They do a non slip top coat as well

Leave it for a couple of years and then oil it will match better

It will fade over the year, we extended ours and it is all the same colour naturally now

@stavro3206 would you just reccomend leaving it then staining? I'd love to know if a coloured stain would match them both up

We did not want to start staining as once you start. so we left it and within the year they were the same colour! Ignore the 5 generations photo but here you can see the old and new and within the year.

@stavro3206 thank you! Think we may do the same. Maybe put a protector on next year then

Wouldn't stain it now as if they go different colors it will be very hard to ever get them to match as the stain protects the wood too
