I am getting ready to move from new IP stabilization to maintenance and thinking about supplements. Have a few questions. Wondering if those of you who are/have been in maintenance. Do you continue to take the same variety and quantity of supplements? My coach is recommending I continue with all but now that my diet has expanded I am not sure if there is a need or if she is trying to continue to sell product. One of the reasons I decided to lose weight was because I have arthritis in my knees—they were swelling and limiting my mobility. Within a few weeks of being on IP (before significant weight loss)the swelling reduced dramatically. I don’t know exactly what to attribute it to—less carbs, use of supplements, less processed foods, possible sensitivity the particular food groups such as legumes or dairy. Regardless, I don’t want my knee health to backslide in maintenance. For those of you who also have knee/swelling issues, what supplements do you feel have been critical for you to maintain in maintenance? And. for some reason the search window for the IPA Facebook page is not working for me. I checked out the supplements doc and I did not see any mention of anti-oxidants, which are optional but I have been using. Anyone have a good substitute? Thanks.

You definitely do NOT need all the same supplements. I take multi (not the IP dosages but just a good quality general multi) and fish oil. It is also wise to check with your dr as different people benefit from different types and dosages of supplements.

Ask your doctor. Mine recommended calcium & D3 because women tend to not get enough dietary calcium, and we are at risk of fractures, esp after menopause.

I take a multi, pro-/pre-biotics and calcium because I’m on Depo.

I cut the vitamin to once a day, but still take the potassium. I have always taken D and fish oil.

I have pain in my hands and feet. I take the Glucosamine supplement I get from Costco. I take this and my multivitamin. I notice s difference if I try to cut back on or stop taking the Glucosamine.
