Where can I take my twin toddlers to throw rocks into ponds? Or just to walk? We do not have many paths by us, and were super politely informed by a very geriatric gentleman if we ever came by "their neighborhood" pond again he would call the police on us. Throwing rocks and sticks into ponds is their favorite "quarantine activity" thus far, but I don't want my 4 year-olds incarcerated yet. Thank you kindly!

Sorry I don’t have any recommendations but I would go back to that pond! Cops can’t do anything if it’s public property. But that’s just me ‍♀️ Also, where is that at? I think I would like to take my toddler there

@behindhand23 It was Cress Creek.

@ymir6 you might run into an issue there if the pond is on the country club/golf course property. If it's in the neighborhood you should be fine

@ricardaricardama Yeah - from "the other side of the tracks. "

I live in Cress Creek and to the best of my knowledge the ponds are part of the golf course/country club. Private property.

My kid would be getting cuffed right along with them

@ymir6 that is pretty lame on his part for being such a cranky old man. I would think anywhere along the riverwalk would be okay. Springbrook Prairie also have multiple ponds thoughout but you would need to walk a bit from the parrking area to get to the ponds

@malicious62 Awesome thank you. And I agree! We were all crying by the time we got to my car.

Winding Creek has a lovely Pond and little creek. It also has a nice playground, but you can’t use that right now. There is a very large grassy area where your kiddos can run around. Winding Creek is in Naperville. One entrance is off of Modaff. Stay safe

You are very welcome. It is supposed to rain tomorrow so bring your rubber boots and umbrellas. The twins will love it

I could understand if they were throwing trash into the pond or throwing rocks at animals, but they're literally throwing nature into nature! Sand and silt is rock. Sticks fall from trees. How ridiculous of the man to say such a thing.
by (1.1k points)
@cathay50039 No - just rocks and sticks. I told them to only pick the "little ones. " He said they spent a lot of money on those rocks and asked if we were even "from around there"

@ymir6 WTF  I'm so annoyed for you. Sorry I have no suggestions, I just have to express how ridiculous his interference was!

I also remember doing the same thing with my brother at our neighborhood pond probably til I was a teenager  THEY'RE KIDS

@cathay50039 if it’s rocks they paid for & brought in, I understand. ‍♀️ my kids got yelled at for the same thing, once.

There’s a pond right next to where standard market was. Just south of the building there’s a gazebo & a rocky area where you can walk down to the water!

@formalin Kirkpatrick That sounds like a good spot! Thanks :)

I don’t really have any suggestions that wouldn’t be a long drive for you, but I’m sorry you ran into that guy. Life is stressful enough as it is right now, and I’m guessing the “super politely” was sarcastic, because I can’t really think of a super p And seriously. during a quarantine, that is mostly being done by younger people, to PROTECT more vulnerable people like him, and most people are “we’re all in this together! ” and he’s “keep your children away from the pond that’s kind of by my house! ” ? The tiny part of my brain that never grew up kinda wants to go teepee his house . Except it would probably cost about $300 right now  Hope tomorrow is a better day ❤️

@alliber594 Hahaha - you're right! Here, we are modern-day heros trying to save him and he is going to call the police. Thank you for the reframing - I like this narrative better!  Definitely wouldn't want to waste the TP right now.
