My neighbor has graciously been sewing masks for healthcare workers at the hospital I work at. She is struggling find more elastic band for the masks. Would anyone have 1/8 or 1/4 inch elastic I could pay for in order to help make more masks? I would gladly pick up the material. Thanks

Honestly the elastic is awful to wear for 8 hours straight. I traded in all my elastic masks for ones with ties. The elastic irritates skin on ears, causes migraines and makes TMJ worse. If your friend has extra material or shoelaces, I highly recommend a tie

Many are requesting ties. I make them too. I keep going back and forth tie vs elastic, and ties are wanted so staff dont have to deal with more elastic over the N95s. I know it doesnt help, but ties are better for medical staff I've been told

For hospital it should be ties only as they can be properly washed and sterilized but for other use she can use /make strings from old elastic tshirts

I am in the medical field and I like mine with the ties as well. Mine with the elastic is actually too loose. I only have one of the tied ones but they are great because you can adjust them. Thank you for your help

Any chance you have bungee cords in your garage? If you cut it open it’s all elastic

I've heard strips made from t-shirts work in a pinch. Has stretch and comfortable

I have some 1 inch that can be cut (very very minimal fraying) if you can pick it up.
