Are you making headbands with buttons, like the picture? The masks are hurting our ears. I work for The Loretto Hospital and we need masks and this headbands.

@torpedoman we are not including headbands yet, focusing on the masks at this point. But I understand what you are saying. I know we donated some masks already to Loretto. Has your area received any yet? Please fill out the form, we would love to help.

@torpedoman I asked my co-admins with Chicago Mask Makers we are trying to figure out a source for those headbands. Poor ears, it’s a long shift.

I’ve seen some people with fabric masks donated there, probably it’s from you guys! Thanks for that! Our problem at this time is our ears. I wore this headband other day and everyone wants it!

Are ties more comfortable?
by (2.5k points)
We are running low on elastic and many of our volunteers are using ties made from tee shirts.

I don’t like with ties, I feel they are harder to adjust. But they don’t hurt our ears!

I would like one of thos headbands also. Maybe I could make one myself. My ears are really started to hurt after wearing masks for 3 days in a row.

@dessalines5 Okay, this is just a thought, I wonder if a place like the Dollar Store might have these headbands. Then you need to find 2 big buttons. And thread. Oh your poor ears, I am so sorry. Thank you for being there for our neighbors when they need it most.

@dessalines5 @torpedoman, please thank your co workers on behalf of all the volunteers with Chicago Mask Makers. We have almost 150 active volunteers making masks but over 1500 who are in our FB group, that's 1500 hugs for you.

@nenitanenney75181 thanks! I think I have some headbands at home. And I have some extra buttons. Thanks for making masks for those who need them the most. We all really appreciate it! Thankfully we still have masks at my hospital.

Just to be clear, Chicago Mask Makers provides masks for free to health care professionals. They are constructed with mostly donated materials by volunteers, truly a grass roots effort. There are so many acts of kindness all around at this time. I'm humbled by our community.
