Question

Looking to buy my grandma a surprise bundle of crotchet supplies. I have no idea what kind of supplies she could need since I’ve never crotched myself. Any suggestions on needles, yarn, patterns she can use, etc? Thanks in advance☺️

Does she currently crochet? If so, what type of things does she make? If I know those things I could offer some suggestions.

So she makes small decorative doilies? If so, she might enjoy a few higher end thin yarns to work with. There is a yarn shop in St. Charles that would have yarn she may not routinely purchase for herself.

@tache if she doesn't have them already, a small blocking mat might be something special. Or a yarn winder if she uses yarn that isn't already balled in an easy to use skein.

A nice project bag with lots of pockets or good quality scissors are always appreciated. Hooks are tricky as each person has a hook shape preference which might make it hard to pick for someone else

If she already crochets she probably won’t need hooks. but many older ladies like the hooks that have more grip and thickness to the hand part. I like urn with variegated colors for small projects.

A yarn bowl would be nice! It’s got a hole or notch to run the yarn through while keeping her ball of yarn in place so she doesn’t have to keep messing with it. They have them on Etsy and probably Amazon.
