Ok I really need to get my husband a hobby and local friends. I'm trying to get out of the house more and I need to get him out more so he won't be mad when I ask him to watch the kids so I can do things. What do your husbands/partners do? He's such a nerd. He's not really into sports a lot, doesn't really drink. Favorite things are like superhero stuff, Star Trek, legos, that kind of stuff. Any ideas? Groups to join or something?

I know this is months away, but has he been to Comic Con Chicago?
by (2.6k points)
Valerie, my husband and I go every year. You should try going with him. You might like it. My husband and I gift this to each other as an Anniversary gift. We're like little children in a toy store.

There’s a new arcade in downtown Aurora called Yetee Station he could check out, too. We haven’t been there yet, but it looks like fun!
by (2.3k points)
I grew up in Brookfield and LOVE this place! I'm going to Yetee station today to check it out for my kiddos. Same concept as GG and a little closer and a little cheaper.

I’ve got one too! Looks like we need to set up a play date  mine likes coffee and photography (expensive hobby) He also likes bike riding but he’s finicky about the type of weather not too hot not too cold
by (330 points)
@panchito are you married to my husband because you just described him to a “T”
by (4.8k points)
@grefe OMG u just cracked me up! LMAO, We should get them together. too funny, I’m shocked to hear there are so many people like him out there, He’s not as rare a specimen as I had thought
by (330 points)
@panchito no but if yours is like mine he would literally rather roll on the floor and die than have me “set him up” with another person. He won’t even go meet the men in the neighborhood
by (4.8k points)
@grefe OMG he IS like yours!

My husband also does not drink and is not into sports. He is into board games. Seriously into board games. If it isn’t too far he goes to the Sandwich Library once a month on a Saturday to play games. Maybe your hubby could come hang. Sandwich, IL Game Club is their Facebook group. Depending on the age of your kids maybe he could bring them too and you get a Saturday morning to yourself momma!

@ringworm my hubby is into board games too! We go to GenCon every year. Every. Year.

@sporocyst8138 There is a game night tomorrow night at the Aurora Public Library. I am planning to try to go but I can't commit 100%. I also can't stay all that late because my daughter goes to bed at 7:30 and I work in the morning. But it will be nice to try to meet other board gamers.
by (780 points)
@drachm5 that sounds great, unfortunately every other week is boy scouts and tomorrow is that day. Hoping for a Friday night or Saturday soon
by (890 points)
@sporocyst8138 Saturday during the day works best for me.

Building/flying racing drones. Or flying a regular drone and getting into the camera footage and video production aspect also. He could maybe start with a tiny whoop drone. My son is in his 20s and meets with people of all ages to fly with.

It’s next weekend but if he is a nerd tell him to go to C2E2 at McCormick center downtown. It’s geek heaven.
by (2.3k points)
I'll be there with my hubby and kid! I'm going as Dazzler on Friday, Peter Parker on Sat and Wonder Woman on Sunday. Heh. Its a LOT of fun. I don't spend as much as I used to.
by (2.3k points)
See I REFUSED to go with my hubby for years. I thought it was all just comic books. Then I learned I could dress up. I'm alll about the cosplay. I won't do the ComicCon one, but I like C2E2. My younger two kids get bored, but the older two love it now. If he wants to go and needs a buddy we are there!
by (2.3k points)
One year we were in panels the whole time. There were a lot of authors I wanted to see and he went to see a bunch of comic book artists and writers. He writes GI JOE books for Hasbro and other fiction, so he really gets into it. (photo of my wonder woman cosplay. heh)
