Anybody have teak outdoor furniture? I've got a couple questions. -Should you use teak oil to help protect it or does that just keep its color? Or should you use teak sealer? -Should it always be covered when not in use or is it okay (not talking about the cushions, just the wood)? Thanks for any advice!

Teak furniture can be left outdoors uncovered all 12 months of the year, no matter where you live. If you choose to cover your teak furniture during winter, use a material that allows the wood to breathe. If you put your furniture away for the winter, do not store it in a heated room. Oiling teak is not a method that can be used to protect the wood and is generally not necessary. Since teak naturally produces its own oils, manufacturers typically do not recommend adding processed solvents into the mix. To restore weathered teak, first clean teak furniture with Teak Cleaner and then apply Golden Sealer to prevent re-graying.

I used to work at C&B. This is what we would tell customers: Teak If left untreated, teak will develop a desirable silvery-grey patina over time. To maintain the look of new wood, use our Golden Care≈ Teak Cleaner and Teak Protector annually. Teak may be left outdoors year-round, though we recommend the use of covers during inclement weather.
