Quick question about credit cards. So we have 5 credit cards right now, 3 “regular” credit cards and then the one target card and one Victoria’s Secret card. I told my husband once we pay off some of those 3 regular credit cards that I want to cancel the account and cut up either one or two of those three. But he seems to believe closing a credit card account would hurt our credit more and that we should just keep the 3 for emergencies. But I feel like having 3 is a lot. Is he right about that? I plan on getting rid of the Victoria’s Secret one once it’s paid off though anyways. I should do the same with the target card but I loooove target. And I know if I have a $0 balance on it I’d be very tempted to get either extra groceries than needed or buy other household items we have been wanting for a long time. Which would just put us back to square one with the debt on the card lol.

You’re going to see people making comments about freezing their cards (literally❄️) or putting them in a safe, because closing a credit card will hit your score. Closing an older card can really hurt. I have a few monthly payments going on my oldest card and pay it off monthly to keep the payment history going.
