Question: I have a large loss on a stock. Let’s call it a $10k loss unrealized long-term (unrelated to latest crash). I also have 401k with gains. Say total balance $50k If I choose to convert my 401k now to a Roth, can I offset a portion of the taxes due for 401k conversion by the unrealized loss on the stock? How would that all work?
