Ok Mom’s I need some advice. Recently My almost 2 year old daughter has been having trouble sleeping in her crib. All she does is cry in hysterics when we put her in there for a nap or bed time. And She only wants to sleep in bed with us or on the couch and I know sleeping with us is a habit we need to break ASAP so, I guess I’m just wondering if this is normal? Does this mean she’s ready for a big girl bed?

Can you set up a comfy chair and read in it the first couple days while she falls asleep? My son was able to fall asleep on his own as long as he was able to see me. It only lasted a week or so before he didn't need me in there anymore. Now he asks to go to bed on his own. He is 1 1/2

@carver I can try that. The thing is she doesn’t like us reading to her. She keeps taking the book away and wanting to turn the pages all the time lol

My son was exactly the same. We finally got him a double sized bed so we could lay down in his room with him until he fell asleep. He is 2. 5 now and still comes into our bed every night but walks himself over. He finally goes to sleep without us being there as well. I am ok with him sleeping in our bed as long as he starts off the night in his bed so I can get a break for a few hours.

Omg I’m not alone! My daughter is 20 months and refuses to stay asleep. No problem falling asleep but after 20 minutes she’s up screaming and only sleeps if we hold her or lay her in bed with us. Been dealing with it for months now! I’ve tried everything! I’m seriously thinking of getting her a twin bed so if I need to I can just lay with her.

Same my 19 month old started this after our vacation in November. I caved but could usually get her a few hours in the crib. Now she screams the second her sound asleep head touches the mattress. We got a full size bed in her room now. We are working on the transition to her sleeping in there but it isn’t going well. 0

@miquelmiquela sorry to hear that it isn’t going well. Same boat over here. I just don’t get what changed in a week. She use to love her crib and would sleep fine, then BAM everything changed. Ugh. Well good luck!

@escritoire I have given up and she sleeps with me and my hubby sleeps on my sons bottom full size bunk. Needing sleep won over the fight and she cut her molars and now cutting 4 teeth at once so maybe when that is done I’ll fight the battle

My son did this at 19 months. We transitioned him to a toddler bed, still the same problem. It lasted a week. We then got him into his full size bed and it was a world of difference. Falls asleep super fast and no issues.

Maybe add a nightlight in case she is scared?
