I hate when posts bash schools and districts. you will always find people who love and people who hate but let’s be kind

@sesquicentennial I agree! It’s not just the district. You can be in a “bad district” and have an amazing teacher or be in a “good district” and have a horrible teacher. Having 3 kids in 202 we have had both. Some amazing teachers who went above and beyond, then we had a teacher tell me that my child couldn’t read because I spend no time with his and she refused to help. As for extra curricular sometimes it depends on the school and what they fund. It’s not always the district. I’ve noticed that here in 202. Some schools have tons of extra curricular and others have nothing. I think all schools have budget issues it’s just not as known to the public. As once said before, those with money hide problems better then those who struggle.

@funderburk6 @sesquicentennial I'm not judging anyone I just dont like the budget issues 308 is having

Does Plainfield go to 365U? I thought that was bolingbrook? Anyway, we attended 365u for 3 years - it was terrible! the academics were garbage and hated the superintendent. They favored some kids over others and it was made very clear, when asked about it- I was told some kids get us grants  this was 5 years ago- so not sure if much has changed . we pulled him and sent him private. When we moved here, we kept him at the private school. Side note: I’d look at their overall grade, their academics are listed on line.

@calculated87 how are the after school programs ? For elementary and middle school especially
by (420 points)
Does this district have a early childhood school?
by (230 points)
@slander for elementary they have after school programs where students can work on homework and there’s some clubs offered. I teach at the middle school and we have over 50 programs offered after school.
by (3k points)
@slander yes they do. And also next year is a new superintendent. I think she will be refreshing for the district

Plainfield is district 202 and parts of Joliet, Bollingbrook, etc feed into it. I don't think plainfield feels into 365U. I subbed in some schools there for a while and they were fine. Not sure about their financial standings though.
by (3k points)
@bisset they do. Off of lockport street heading into plainfield.
by (640 points)
@plummy5009 gotcha. Didn't see it on the list from the district site.
by (2.2k points)
A good part of that area off Lockport is Romeoville/Plainfield Township & goes to PSD202. The school district boundaries are kind of weird.
by (640 points)
@penta so are some other district boundaries like oswego 308, naperville 204, etc.
by (2.7k points)
@bisset I am Plainfield & in VVSD 365U schools

@kraal I was already corrected. no need to add in

I would definitely choose 308 over Bolingbrook.

I am currently leaving 365 in Romeoville for 308 . I am currently only at the elementary stage but the only good things they had were all day kindergarten and Chromebooks for everyone starting in second grade other than that there's not much talk about for that District I definitely wanted to leave before high school to get more programs the reason budget is an issue is because you're not doing anything

We love 202 Plainfield. My Son is a junior now and not one issue ever in #202. Since I'm a school coordinator for another district, I don't speak negatively on F. B. about any school. Schools are what you make them. I went to Morton East in Cicero. People were terrified that I chose that school over Berwyn schools, best four years of my life. Now I have a double masters.

365U is romeoville and Bolingbrook but there is a small section in Lakewood falls off of weber rd that address is Plainfield but goes to 365U. We were in that area. We moved to Plainfield north (202) before my kids started elementary so I don’t have any feedback on the schools though. But I do know 365 does have all full day kindergarten, 202 sadly still has half day and a lottery for full day  There’s a Bolingbrook moms Facebook page. They would probably be able to give you the best feedback for 365U district. I’m not sure if there’s a romeoville moms group.

I work in 365u school district and have for 15 years. I taught in Plainfield and chose to leave the district to go to 365u. The diversity is amazing, the teachers are dedicated, and our curriculum department is wonderful. We set high standards for our students and work hard to enhance the whole child; mind, body and spirit. Our high schools rank higher than Plainfield South and just under Plainfield North and Plainfield East. Just FYI my kids go to Plainfield school for no other fact than this is where I bought my house 16 years ago. Every school district will have have people that hate it and people that love it. No matter where you be an involved parent and your child’s number one advocate!

I went to 365u schools and I teach in 308. I don't think you are going to see a difference in budget anywhere after this pandemic ends. We are all going to be struggling. That said, I felt my education in 365u was good, but it depends on the school. And 308 is also great, but again, it depends on the school. Some are definitely better than others.

And also, for anyone wondering, Plainfield is huge. It goes to 365u, 202, AND 308 in some parts.

I love VVSD. We’re in Romeoville. I went through VVSD K-12. Graduated in the top 10% of my class at RHS and went on to graduate with two art degrees from Dominican University. Every single teacher with the exception of one was amazing. My brother and sister both graduated from Romeoville high school as well. My sister got her personal training degree and certifications through Lewis University and my brother is currently at U of I in the school of engineering. My 7 year old is currently in 1st grade and I can’t say enough good things about this district. Number one being all day kindergarten for every student. His kindergarten teacher did everything she could to make sure he was challenged including speaking to her friend who teaches 1st grade and coming up with a schedule for him to go to 1st grade 1/2 of the day (this was last year). The teacher he spent time with last year is his teacher now and she has also been absolutely amazing. She has been teaching him along with the rest of her 1st graders as well as giving him additional 2nd grade work. Both his K and 1st grade classes had just about 20 kids. The way they have handled this pandemic has been beyond amazing as well. Right away they had supply pick ups scheduled and every kid 2nd grade and up was able to check out a chrome book. You didn’t have to get free or reduced lunch - you just got a chrome book. Right away they passed out foam tangram pieces, playdoh, crayons, markers, dry erase markers and make-shift dry erase boards to every kindergartener and 1st grader. The first week of May they were able to secure chrome tablets for every kindergartener and 1st grader and they did a second supply pick up. I believe that the district is still working on drive up graduation ceremonies as well. Not just for high school but for 8th grade, too. This district cares about their kids a lot and in my opinion they have for over 20 years. I’m excited to see what Rachel Kinder has to offer this district as the new superintendent.

@swithbert I have 4 1st graders and a pre-k. My 3/4 got chrome books, one who needed a tablet is still without, and the pre-K got nothing. My 1st graders received nothing more than a chrome book and seesaw. What you received must have been from your school or teacher directly, which is awesome!

It is district employees, parents and the students that make a school district good or bad. Some parents and students don't care and some people shouldn't work in schools but the opposite is true too. Some parents, students and school employees go above and beyond. We have been in 3 different district (1 in Oklahoma, 2 in Illinois) which were 5 different elementary schools and 1 middle schools. They all had their great teachers and some not so great. Their preference (1) Plainfield 202, (2) Mustang school district in Oklahoma (3) Naperville 204. We all are accountable

So true. Can't group the whole district or even the entire school if only a few individuals sour the experience.

I am in vvsd 365u. When we bought our house I was hesitant because of the district’s reviews. My oldest attends Beverly Skoff and my twins are currently in Preschool, the school is very involved in they’re education and personal wellbeing. This year they introduced “calm classroom” it helps they breathing and focus techniques that my daughter and her teacher rave about it. Now with the pandemic I’ve seen and noticed how underrated this school district is compared to 308 and even Naperville’s. I have family on the other two districts and VVSD has gone out and beyond for they’re students and families.

My older stepdaughter went to Valley View for Kinder and 1st grade, 204(Naperville) for 2nd-4th, Plainfield 202 for 5th and 6th and then back to 204 for 7th-12th. She had good and bad experiences in all 3 districts. 204 definitely has more money and more programs than the other two. We lived in a section of Bolingbrook that was 204 schools. My younger daughter has been in Plainfield schools from preschool-high school. I was involved in the PTA/ PTO in all 3 districts. In my opinion you get out of any school what you put in. We have had amazing teachers across the 3. I can tell you my older daughter continued where she left off when she switched districts from valley view to 204 to 202, never was behind or ahead so the curriculum is the same. I bought my house in Plainfield for my younger one to attend Plainfield North and she wound up going to East due to the special ed program she needed to be in. We had an amazing experience at East and was so glad she went there. Parts of Bolingbrook go to Plainfield East. Do your research and follow your gut.
