Folks, so I’m confused.  Today I picked up Ring alarm, for everything setup, but no where I see where I can set the settings to enable/disable motion capture for the indoor and stick up cams (which I have) based on the alarm state.Folks, so I’m confused. Today I picked up Ring alarm, for everything setup, but no where I see where I can set the settings to enable/disable motion capture for the indoor and stick up cams (which I have) based on the alarm state. I didn’t even see anywhere where I can add the cams as trigger devices to the alarm. The motion, dood sensors can be added as trigger devices, but not cameras? What the. What am i missing here folks? I was under the impression that alarm allows you to do control the camera state and use them as triggers?

It's called modes, it will show up in the new features section of the app and the device menu

@dawnedawson761 I don’t have these “mode” settings.

Log out of the app and log back in. That's how I got it. It is also a slow rollout

@dawnedawson761 tried they didn’t worked unfortunately. see I was under the impression that you only have to wait for it, if you don’t have the alarm, but with alarm you get that feature right away.

I had the alarm for over a year. It's slowly been rolling out

Your cameras may also need a firmware update

@dawnedawson761 it’s disappointing. also how do you update the firmware? Ring doesn’t take care of that OTA, through the app?
by (3.3k points)
Ring does an OTA, go to device health. If the firmware has a number it's out of date and the OTA should be coming soon.

The modes feature wasn't around at launch. It's a new feature

That's a negative ghost Rider. Your security cameras motion sensors cannot trigger your alarm. You would have waaaay to many false alarms . You can however, turn off recording for certain cameras while your house is disarmed. Say for example, a indoor camera, while disarmed, camera does not record/notify indoors. When armed it will record and notify.

@hilel that’s fine. but I don’t have that option either.

I'm running app version 3. 22. 1 I still haven't received my "modes" update. Could just be a slow roll out still.

@hilel I’m on 3. 22. 4 and no modes. Now I thought I was supposed to get them right away with the alarm

I’m in 5. 22. 4 and have modes. You’ll get updated at some point.

So to be clear, I do have modes now. They’ve showed under the overall settings, after I added the alarm, but they don’t have any settings for the cams. And I don’t have modes option under the individual cameras as shown in the picture posted by @dawnedawson761.

@georg just gotta wait for the update brother. I'm in the same boat. Waiting.

@hilel yeah. see I was under the impression that you only have to wait for it, if you don’t have the alarm, but with alarm you get that feature right away. I guess I was wrong.
