You need to wire it into your low voltage transformer. Should be in the mechanical room. Be a lot easier to buy a battery unit. I hav both, one wired at the front door and a battery one out back. They only need charging once every few months. Otherwise you need to run wires from the transformer to the doorbell area. Then buy a a something to make the bell sound in the house. Ring sells them.

@filbert66 Or get Alexa to make announcements. No need to add a chime if you have Alexa.
