Help! We installed a floodlight on our unattached garage.Help! We installed a floodlight on our unattached garage. It’s approximately 130 feet from the router in our house. How do we know if we need to buy a router extender or a WiFi mesh? We have other ring products and stream several other devices all day long. Thanks for your input. ☺️

Go with a mesh system. It was the best move I ever made.

If you’re thinking about it, you need a mesh system.

Get one of the wifi analizers for your phone and measure the signal at new location either a high end router or mesh system will cover it

I have the eero system. It came with 3 “hubs” and was $189. I added a 4th “hub” just this week for my garage just bc I wanted more signal out there.

Purchased the Orbi and love it. I have signal outside where I never had it before. Works great with my Ring devices.

If it's supplied by the same electrical system then use a powerline network.

Which floodlight? The camera floodlight operates on WiFi but the regular floodlights operate on RF with the Ring Bridge. If you do not have the Floodlight Cam a new router won’t do anything to improve range and connectivity

You will know cause the image wont show, or take a long time to load, if the image shows in less that 6 seconds then you are ok :)

Depending on size of house and how many wifi devices you have its probably best anyway to get a mesh network. Dont waste money on Wifi Extender they are all trash.
