Any plans for the Ring Cams and doorbell to provide continuous video feed? I've been using a Nest Cam to view on my iPads to see what's going on outside my house because it's a continuous feed but there's a monthly fee. The Ring cams stop sending live video after a few minutes but I'd like to see continuously like with my Nest Cam.

I hope they don’t. Too much 24/7 bandwidth strain on the internet.

I doubt that everyone would go for it especially if it costs more so the internet won't be "strained" as much

@tommietommy nest monthly usage by quality setting: 360p: 18GB average (48GB max) 720p: 60GB average (160GB max) 1080p: 140GB average (380GB max) So Nest knocked all cameras down to the lowest quality to lessen the strain on the network since usage is way up.

@gamal I haven't noticed any loss in quality. Are you saying they lowered it to their servers where it's recorded? Cant the live, continuous feed stay on the users local network?

I read they just set all the cameras back to default on April 15th. You have to manually change them back if you want. Google search “nest lowered quality”.

Have you used nest inside? I am thinking about putting one for the nursery and wanted continuous feed

@methodist Motions will record. But only up to 1 minute. 10 mins for live feed

@aroid10 ah ok!

Yes it works the same way inside: continuous feed

Live is 10 minutes on ring. It's only £25 per year for the subscription or £80 for unlimited devices. I bought a few nest cams last year Took them back to the shop and had a full refund. Nest wanted £240 per year per camera for cloud storage. I think ring will extend the view time. I doubt it will be 24/7

Ring was supposed to have brought out 24/7 recording last year. I got tired of waiting and bought a nest camera. The quality isn't anywhere near my floodlights, and nest has been very unreliable, to the point they've been refunding people. If ring ever does 24/7 recording, that nest camera will be gone.

I have 2 NEST cameras inside the house, but they are just expensive for the monitoring and to much money invested in RING to change now.

I have 3 ring products (2 floodlights and a pro doorbell). The ring products are far better quality products than the Nest. Ring also has a better reliability, and when ring has problems, they are much faster at fixing them too. The ONLY thing nest has over ring is the 24/7 recording. I've had the nest outdoor camera since January, and it's averaged being down once a month for a few hours at a time.

Ring has said in the past that they do plan to provide 24/7, but that it will be at a higher fee tier. Who knows when. Personally, I'm not interested. way too much days use for my taste. But there are certainly applications for it.

If you want 24/7 video, I suggest you put a security camera with a DVR or NVR with 2-5 Terabyte capacity.
