Our online conference Cloud Data Summit has one distinct disadvantage from an SEO perspective. There is no valid schema tag for online events -- a physical location is required in the Event tag. Google Events refuses to list the event if it is missing a location. So. we are trying to hack Google just like we have hacked Eventbrite. By listing the event in an event center in every major city in the geographies we are targeting. What does this mean? The schema tag has over 100 different locations in it, each with a different Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Country. Oh, and not only that. We did a fair amount of research into other major events which are listed in Google Events (including things like Google I/O) and most of them lack a "complete" Event tag. What I mean by "complete"- we can add lots of info about "performers", the profiles of the performers (with backlinks and lots of keywords), the companies the performers work for (with backlinks and lots of keywords), the people/companies in attendance can be listed out individually (with backlinks and lots of keywords) So we took every opportunity in the Event Schema to take advantage of from a relevant keyword or knowledge graph perspective. The result? The Schema tag is BIG. Like 1500 lines big. And most of the length is due to 100 locations x 8 rows for each. Our research didn't find any events with anything close to this. So I think we are in uncharted territory. Does anyone have experience with huge and very thorough schema tags?

Why not create one page for each location and cut down the account of code across them all?

@grabowski because that's a lot of pages to maintain, and they will all be exact copies of one another, save the schema tags

You only need 40% unique content. Throw a city bio on each one and call it a day. Once they're built, they're built.

@grabowski They actually change frequently as speakers are confirmed, agendas change, speakers drop out and new ones are added. Significant changes 2-3x per week

And at best the address and timezone is going to be 2-3% unique content.

Maybe build a drop in for that section of the page, like an include file?

@grabowski its doable, but it will increase maintenance by probably 20x. That pages are much more fluid than just replacing a speaker or an agenda item. I guess the question is why would we want to do this? Page load time is fine at about 3 secs, we are already outranking Oracle, IBM, Gartner, Strata in organic search for our primary keywords. And we are starting to rank articles on related keywords. So why should we make this 20x more difficult?

Having a location page for each city would help for local SEO but I'm unsure if it would help on the Google events front.
