Long post on my Magician Website - worth a read! Just want to put a simple message out there that it's not all about the tools! I have been obsessed with data and tools and have moved myself over Rank Math from Yoast because I wanted to get the next edge, I moved my hosting to Siteground because I wanted get the edge on speed and then I optimised all the images because I wanted more speed. Then I wrote 2000 word pages because I was told I had to write more words than the page above me. Then I had a coaching call today with @vanda who took one look at my site and went Wooooooo you are obviously trying to optimise this, let's have a look at your bounce rate it was nearly 90% and she said it was the highest she had seen. So whilst I might be getting rankings people are being overwhelmed with information and @vanda said her thumb hurt by the time she had got to the bottom of one of my pages! Tools are great for getting data you can't see easily, but just take the advice with a pinch of salt. An example for you. If you are in the UK, (would be interested to see results in other countries) google "Magicians in Hampshire" You should see my site My site comes #1 but Rank Math says my SEO score for that page is 45/100 I have optimised another page and it's score is 89/100 but it ranks at #15 for the target search phrase So it's not all about the tools - it still needs a human touch/! My mission now in the downtime as enquiries have dried up 100%! is to clean up my site. Make it not so location page spammy and create a clear site structure Just wondered what everyone elses experience was with optimising their content according to the tools and what you are being told to do against actual real world results? I have spent 4 weeks optimising my site for speed and it's made zero effect on rankings. All that @vanda said was "Those images look a bit rough" So again I had over-optimised. Anyone?
