Blogging is not that important but creating cood content pages is very important for SEO and lets not forget human readers. Creating content may include blogging. You can do all technical SEO on a page with no content but. it'll be a blank page.

Blogging is important for generating broad traffic within a niche. It's important for relevancy. It helps generate organic links and it can get shares on social. But it only has limited impact on ranking the money pages in my experience.

Depends on your business. If your dentist for example having 100 blog posts about dentistry isnt going to Help you drive in local business

@spinescent exactly. I run a removals business the blogs are boring as fuck. Not like an seo blog for example where people are interested in the information broadly. Even people moving house dont want to read blogs about it

@medici I would look into creating contents that blogs and websites would actually care and link to. Dont put out content that don’t get no links at least not all.

@mendelson how can you do that with a really uninteresting subject matter like moving house?
by (2.6k points)
I can think of a few: 1. real estate topics. 2. home design. 3. anything about house moving statistics. 4. Mobile home topics. It can be anything related to moving house.

Even if it is boring. It will still build topical and geographical relevance.

Think about what kind of site you have and what why your visitors come to your site. What ste they looking for? What else are they interested in? So the first question is, seo aside, does blogging make sense for your site? Sometimes all people are looking to do is buy something, get some piece of information, use a tool, or watch a video. Blogging doesnt make sense for all sites. Also, blogging, even if not getting seo traffic, can have huge branding benefits and help trust and conversions in general. That being said, if blogging is a good fit, it can help seo by attracting quality links, helping relevancy, and getting more traffic. I think you many people think seo is some type of checklist instead of understanding the proper seo philosophy and how it fits into the internet ecosystem. Goodluck!

Blogging is only good if you are writing about things people are actively searching for. Questions etc. For example you sell furnaces, writing a blog about average furnace prices will be extremely useful. Not everyone who reads the blog will be customers but, if the blog is good and quality content you can attract backlinls, which helps your domain authority and helps your other pages to rank, plus you can retarget your blog visitors with localized ads etc. Depending how competitive your niche is backlinks are super important and most times people don’t like out to service pages, as typically blogs provide way more value.

Agreed. Blogging for backlinks only works if your content is good enough to be shared.

On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give it an 8 for importance. On the second part of the question, Yes.
by (1.2k points)
@bronchiole +1 here although part 2 should be “maybe” The technical aspects set the foundation

@toratorah I hear you. When there is ever a comparison question. I say yes to both. A lot of times the questions are asked because someone wants to know where they should invest the most time and effort into. However, this is SEO Signals Lab. Which means, "SIGNALS" is plural. Even if it wasn't this group, it's important for a person to know all of it is extremely important to your success. I'm not saying one method isn't louder than another. Since this isn't an orchestra of "one. " I just feel compelled to say include them all. Of course, its about implementing strategy in a tactful way.

Depends on the type of business but most of the time your blog content reflects your expertise in your area of business. For my tech clients, they get a lot of conversions coming from blog posts

Technical is not as vital as blogging. Among the iterations throughout Google's updates, technical has always been one of the least, if not, the least, impacted ones. Blogging helps to public show your expertise in your field, increase your position as an authoritative website and popularity.

Normally very important . but it doesn’t strictly have to be a blog. It can be any content. But the biggest issue is that people write about the wrong things and waste their time. Can you do the same with tech Seo . I’d say probably not . but it’s like asking which is more important to a cake - flour or eggs. You kinda need both. But while you can make a type of cake without eggs, you can’t make one without flour. And in this, content is the flour.

In my experience writing blog posts with relevant terms builds relevancy and helps build ranking on money pages

What @spinescent and @medici said above. Blogging in some cases is absurd. But I still don´t get why you are including technical SEO in the conversation. Technlical SEO is a must for all websites you want to rank, wether you have a blog or not.

Though one can be enough together they can do best, especially on greater competition.

IMHO No you can’t get the same results, I wish you could. I prefer technical SEO I have done tests over the years & it always shows same, the extra content showing expertise helps rankings. I use a mix of types of posts. Short ones answering questions (done in a under an hour) and long in-depth ones (that takes ages). I also freshen posts annually which given them a boost too.

You pretty much blog to create content that targets a keyword that is valuable for your business (drives sales/leads). That is all about blogging in SEO.
