I have some light strips on my patio plugged into a zwave outdoor plug. I have a motion on the patio and an automation setup in ST to turn on the strip if motion is detected at night. Is there an elegant way to turn the lights off for the night even if there’s motion? Or do I have to disable that action and re-enable the next day?

I would make a routine to run at a certain time to turn them off.

Use modes - switch over to night via schedule or some other trigger, limit the motion to operating during day or evening or home mode, whatever else you use, and set up a separate automation to turn the light off when you transition to night mode.

@setzer this would be my recommendation as well. If you don't want to do that, use a virtual switch.

Maybe I didn’t explain this right. I have an automation that works fine now, I just want to be able to disable it for the night. Sometimes I want to walk outside and the light not turn on. Mark, I think the modes would work though. I dig into that, thank you
