If you paired it you can control it in the app.

@lixivium3 if I get more remotes, wife will kill me! Hahahaha
by (14.6k points)
@appledorf That’s the SmartThings Connect app on my iPhone.
by (10.2k points)
@appledorf The HArmony will most likely replace all the remotes. :)

@appledorf I got my harmony remote specifically for my wife. Do you have an Alexa device? “Alexa, turn on the TV”. My wife loves it now, no remote.

@kirkuk81369 I don't know if something is wrong with my harmony it what, but I can never get the app to recognize it on the network

@module33 can’t get SmartThings to see the Harmony?
by (460 points)
@kirkuk81369 I can't get the harmony app to see the hub
by (1.4k points)
@module33 it’s been awhile since I set mine up, but I recall adding harmony to SmartThings. Add a new ST device and click “add manually” then select “remotes”

Sorry I mean I can't get the harmony app to see the harmony hub

When I call for Alexa to watch a channel on FiOS it will actually turn on the TV automatically or switch inputs to the FiOS box. Not a smart things solution however it works without buying any extra equipment or software assuming you have an Alexa and Verizon FiOS

Can do it through Alexa, but I don't have/want/use it in my home

@appledorf wish you could turn off with Alexa

You could do a motion sensor that you walk in front of? Are pressure sensors available? I’d love to sit on my couch and have the entertainment system start up through harmony

I ended up buying a fire tv and I do it that way. I do use ST to power it off at night or when we are away

If this then that to a harmony hub
by (1.4k points)
@deficit49543 Why would you need IFTTT if you have a harmony hub? ST supports it natively.

We have 5 Samsung’s some of them support it natively

If it is like my TV, you can only turn it off not on.
by (900 points)
@heavensent mine does that but only when hardwired. If I connect it via WiFi I can turn it on. Strange lol.

I have ifttt set up so I can say "I want to play", that triggers the harmony activity for PS4 and tells me to turn my controller on. Another +1 for Harmony hub.

Mine goes on no problem. 2020 model q60. My older 2016 would not, only off (series 6). They introduced a firmware update in 2018 the pretty much killed all the TV integration. It was originally pretty decent with more functionality than they have now. My 6 series would do much more such a s volume, change channels, and mute. Now it only turns off.

We have a series 6. ST will turn it off but not in. ST has no problem with the series 7.

My TVs only are recognized in the new app, but not in the Classic version. Control on and off plus volume

Recommend a Harmony Hub, and perhaps a cheap Echo DoT. But there's no competing with Harmony for media controls.

Send it a wake on lan packet. You can test it using Fing, verified working on 2016 8000 series on 49, 55, 75
by (1.1k points)
@spirituous8488 this works! Thanks! Now get it to do it when I press "on" somehow lol
by (780 points)
Use Core to automate the WOL packet. They have a tutorial in the piston examples

@spirituous8488 cool. I will look into it! Thanks!

I still use the classic APP and I can Turn on and off. And volume Control
by (470 points)
@janeanjaneczka14 with voice?
by (730 points)
@eyebright Yes, I can turn on and off with voice, using Google Assistant. Volume doesn't work (I don't know if it's a limitation of the Classic App or it's just not possible)

Seems a very mixed response here. I have a v3 smarttthings hub, using new app with a cheaper 7series samsung tv, it'll turn off, volume, change input, play/pause via ST hub, but annoyingly not on

* via alexa voice

@rusticate have succeeded with sending it a wol in Fing.

It’s built in. My Samsung tv automatically was found in the Samsung SmartThings app. I can use the app on my phone or Alexa to turn it on

I have my Samsung TV paired. Alexa will turn it on/off

Mine will do all of the above except for switch on. The ST app is very well integrated with it apart from that. I’m thinking it’s due to me having the entry level 7020 set.
