I have 5 cameras & just bought another base plus 3 more cameras. It is saying a paid Arlo subscription is needed to activate the device. 1) Do I have to now pay for all my cameras? 2) I have a power cord to one of my cameras but it doesn’t show it’s charging & it’s at 82%, is that normal? ‍♀️

Yes because per account you can only add a maximum of 5 cameras

Depending on what cameras you have, you don't have to have a subscription to use all the devices. If you want them on one account and to have the Arlo smart features, yes, you'll need a sub. The workaround is to put each set on a different account and grant access from one account to the other with Access Rights. This gives you view and almost all control over all cameras from one account at no charge (for Arlo, Arlo Pro and Arlo Pro 2)

@terrie Thanksng I have Arlo Pro 2, how do I put them on separate accounts?

When you open the app, create a new account. Log into that account. Add the new base station. Sync the cameras. Go to Settings > Grant Access and grant access to your primary account. Scroll down and Check the box that says Allow Access Rights. Once that is all set up, when you log into your first account, all the cameras will be there

In fact I have the same problem and on their website it is not very clear how to handle it. as even if you subscribe you can choose 5 cameras.

Why would you need another base ( I’m new to this )
by (2.2k points)
@convertiplane the max is 5 cameras per account if you do not want to pay. If you try to use a 6th camera arlo will say you have to pay to add more

After so many cameras - and having to climb a ladder to change batteries a lot - it almost seems that the Arlo systems aren’t really set up for bigger jobs - but more set up for smaller / residential / low amount of cameras type of applications . Thoughts ?

Create a 2nd account and share permissions between the 2 accounts. I have 7 cameras, 2 base stations, 7 arlo lights and 2 light bridges
