Is the range of detection better on more expensive newer versions? I have arlo pro which detect nothing outside. arlo pro 3 which does better but everything has to be close to it. i need something with 30plus ft range.

Not really. All my cameras detect around 25-30 feet away for people and further for large IR signatures like vehicles. Newer ones have a wider detection range though to coincide with their wider FOV.

My Arlo pro 2's detect at over 50'. (vehicles)

They are day sensing. When it turns into night the light will turn on.

Turn your cameras on to detect sound and record. Mine get over 1000+ videos a day of cars going by
