Seeking some advice, been using my arlo pro for some time now and didn’t have any issues with it till I got my arlo pro 2 yesterday. I tried syncing the arlo pro 2 with my base station multiple times and it failed to do so. So I have read the arlo community pages and tried to reset my system and tried to sync my old arlo pro camera with my base station and now that failed too! In the app I am able to add my base station but the cameras can’t be synced (new and old) to the base station which I find it weird. If it was working perfectly before why can’t it be synced again? Any suggestions on what can be done and how to overcome this? I tried every suggestion that can be found on arlo community page online. Looking forward to some suggestion ✌

@fretwork try a complete reset. Uninstall the app and delete cache also

About a month ago I did exactly what you are trying. I would try again. Reset base, add cameras. I added Pro's then the Pro 2. I had the cameras next to the base station when I added them.

@best2 alright noted I shall give this a try. Shall keep you posted if it works

@sansom well I did reset the system and tried syncing the camera again. If failed even though the camera was next to the base station

Utilize the hard reset function on the back of the base

@best2 sadly tried everything and it’s still not able to sync with the base station. I have written in to netgear to see it they have a solution for this issue.

@fretwork ok. I don't know what else to tell you. Either internet issues or the base is bad

@fretwork can you buy another base station to support the 2’s?
by (270 points)
@kurt43666 current base station is only supporting 2 camera, just added another arlo pro 2.

I just did this about a couple weeks ago and ran into no issues. I added 2- pro 2's to my other 2- pros, 1 Video DB and 5- Original Arlo cams. I did get some sync issues when I synced the 2 audio DB's and chime to the setup. I removed the battery for about a min or 2 and put them back in. When I did this, I was able to sync them then. Don't know if this will resolve your issue but its worth a try. Just remove the batteries and before syncing insert it again and wait for the blue led light to blink a couple of times.

@wreckage thanks for the suggestion and did try it, but still not able to sync it

I find failure to sync is most due to the Wi-Fi router. Restart that first. Wait til you have Wi-Fi on your phone again. Restart your base station. Then try to sync. If that fails, add a step of move the base station further away from the router before restarting them

@terrie Thanksng did all of this and sadly it still not able to sync with the camera. Base station is able to be located but can’t sync it with the cameras ( both old and new)

One of my Pro Camera batteries went bad, , went through al the stuff they do trying to make you troubleshoot the cause. they said they would send me a new battery, they refused my PO Box and demanded an address! I don't have a US mail box, never did, I rent a Post Office box! I find that very nasty approach to customer service. I had no choice but to give them my address with no mail box, and hope the US post office will catch it and put it into my PO Box, very small town.

They never shipped. tried to go online to support, waited 30 minutes, , then it hung up on me. then I called the phone, waited 40 minutes, they told me I didn't give them my address. I had given them my address written 5x, oral 5x. what can I say here about the really bad service and really dumb service without being banned or kicked. 30 days of them not sending a replacement battery and they tell me after al those calls and chats that and I didn't give them my address! liars! I told them over and over and over and over 100x that my us mail uses apo box, gave them that, they refused that, I asked if it is us mail or Fedex, UPS? etc. and I gave them my physical street address all those times, written and verbal What is wrong with the company? is it they have us calling India? (the accents sound like they are) is it they can't use English speaking or reading people? I am so frustrated with customer service with companies like this. They charge a fortune for their products, but maybe they are trying to force us to buy a new battery that still has 10 months left on the warranty. it lasted almost 2 months, , , and each battery is like $50. 00. It makes me look stupid if I have to tell my wife they system I spent hundreds $$$ on has a bad battery and they refuse to mail one back.

If you have a pro2, it will not work with the plain pro base station. You will need to use a pro2 base station. Also when you are setting everything up with the base station make sure to have your base station plugged directly into your router (or modem if you don't have a router).
by (2.2k points)
@fretwork clearly you already know the answer to your own question, next time don't ask
by (850 points)
@lesseps McCulogh incorrect. The pros, pro 2, pro 3 all will work with the VMB4000 I’m adding on cams but clearly my disdain for Arlo is now having me rethink the system and moving onto Ring.

Conect the base station to the router with a wire. Make sure camera. battery is charged. Bring one camera close to station hit sync button on base station and camera. wait a min or two open phone app and see if they tell you you need to update firmware.

@flossie8069 thanks for the suggestion. Did all of this and base station is updated. Still not able to sync
