Question: I get paid tomorrow and I have about 40 dollars left over in various envelopes from last payday (yay me, huge small win for me as I would usually be in the negatives by now! ) with the left over money should I roll it into next paydays envelopes and then the money I was going to take out use that and throw it at debt? Or should I add it to some sinking funds? I’m very torn on which way to go as either option would be beneficial to me. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

I would do debt since debt has accrued interest attached to it

Depends. If it was my grocery envelope, I’d leave it. Anything else I’d probably throw at debt.

Unless there is an envelope that you could do with rolling it over into (grocery, medical, etc) then debt is the way to go if you can

For me I’d roll it over since your just getting used to the cash system. If you keep getting left over cash then you can adjust your envelopes at your next budget to be more precise b

Proof budgeting works for you. I have decided to reconcile to 0 on all envelope after 3 months and pay towards debt. I would say put it towards what's important to you.

I put mine into my sinking funds. upcoming holidays, vacation etc. I don’t have a lot going into those envelopes just yet so that is the only way I can fund them right now

Depends on the envelope for us. Kitty, boys, tools, household we keep rolling over. At the end of the year we will leave $50 in the boys envelope and throw the rest in a savings for them. Groceries we hadn’t had leftover to roll over. But gas we will throw at debt. We knocked down our gas budget.
