I've been binge watching Kumiko's videos. She shows real numbers, but even her actual look like estimates. How does she record her numbers? For example, cell bill estimate $120, actual $118. 24. How does she record that? Just wondering. Does she put the estimates in her expense trackers? Thanks.

The estimates are at the beginning of the paycheck. The actuals are recorded when she knows them and are on the expense tracker. For budgeting purposes I budget $150 for electric, but it varies. When paying and recording, I do the actual amount. The difference just carries over to the next month. That's why a buffer is important.

@doxology, thank you. I can never tell from the videos how it's recorded.

The actual numbers are in the expense trackers . The difference between actual and the estimates would just be added to her checking cushion

Estimate is what you "budget" then whatever it is, it the actual amount. I mean I feel like I always "budget" more than less. I budget 200 for the utilities but they are usually no higher than 132 then I have that extra money for next month or to put in a sinking fund of my choice.

I always budget on the safe side. I only have two bills that vary each month. Cable/internet (because it's inevitable we end up renting a movie or two) and power. I base my budget on the highest amount from the previous year, and if the actual bill is less, the 'overage' gets rolled to savings.

She rounds everything up I believe because she said she saves all the change I think she puts it at the end of the year in her sons college account
