What do you do when you forget about something like an extra amount added on to your internet bill to make it more than double?

@glovsky I would definitely call the company if I could but it Was an extra installation fee that I forgot about.

@lillylillywhite7555 I always ask to waive the installation fee before they even arrive. Especially, if you’ve been with the company for over 5 years.

I use my account buffer, take from envelopes or if it’s too much i use my savings  I over budget on all bills though because this happens to me WAY too often specially things like utilities that can be different every month.

We’ve been working on a checking account cushion. for now, I budget based on the smallest amount I expect my husbands pay to be biweekly and leave any leftover in the bank. Our cushion isn’t big right now, but we’ve already benefited from it because some dummy forgot to pay the Dish bill in January ‍♀️ I was so focused on getting set up for February that I thought it was paid. Our cushion didn’t cover the full amount, but I was able to pay enough to get our cable turned back on and it will be current after this pay.

I keep a small cushion in my checking account for situations like this. I hate surprises

So, those saying checking Account question, how much do you have as a cushion? I'm still working on baby step 1 which will be complete when we get our taxes, but it just sucks because I had extra in my checking. So I am able to make the payment. It just feels like it's putting me back I guess.
