I know some of you guys love selling or getting a deal on FB market place. I contemplating my fist purchase of an apple pencil at a great price, so my question is. does fb have some kind of guarantee to protect buyers? Like what if I send the $$ and the seller never sends out the item? Can I get it back? Thanks #negativenancymoment

Nope, no protection. It's just a risk you take

I wouldn't buy from marketplace until you can see the product and make sure it works.

I always meet in person. if that isn’t an option you could pay by PayPal and they have buyer’s protection

I sell a lot on marketplace. But I never ship, I meet up with the buyer to make exchange. Always in a public place.

Are you referring to a company selling on there? If so, if you paid by pay pal invoice, you are protected.

Do not pay with PayPal directly through Facebook/Messenger (unless they have changed their policy). The last time I looked at their policy, there was no buyer's protection. Have the seller create an invoice through PayPal and take screenshots of the listing and all communication, including the seller's FB profile, just in case. I have sold through Marketplace in person and by mail without issues, but that's where I saw that PayPal transactions are handled differently--no seller's fees are deducted--and that's why I searched for the policy.

I only do local buying and selling on marketplace for that exact reason. No protection for you if you don't get the item or if the item isn't as specified!
