Food delivery side hustlers.  Which one has more bank for your buck ?Food delivery side hustlers. Which one has more bank for your buck ? Worth putting in the effort. Delivering groceries from Instacart or food like from Ubereats or postmates? I have no idea what the pay is for either. I signed up to do Instacart but realize it’s more work since you’re doing the shopping rather than just picking up food from a fast food place. But maybe it pays slightly better ? I don’t have a job or qualify for unemployment unfortunately so I’m thinking of doing these since they are in high demand right now. I can only put in a few hours each week so wondering which one is worth it. Thanks in advance.

I just signed up for instacart too. They sent me a message saying make more money delivering alcohol. I dont know the pay yet sorry waiting on my card in the mail
by (1.5k points)
Yeah i have my card but haven't registered it yet or finished the process
by (1.3k points)
@zurheide once you input the card information, you then have to wait on the background check to complete. (I just finished the process. )

@perilymph Nicole oh really? I didn’t know there was more after that

U. E. is pretty reasonable. You get paid off each delivery plus if they tip you

So let's say your going to mcds and your 1 mile away and the delivery is 2 miles away you may make like 3. 00 off that delivery
by (1.5k points)
So only 3 dollars to deliver it ? plus tip on top of it?
by (610 points)
@zurheide that's assuming your close to the place the further you and they are away your pay could be more. Yes if they tip bc its optional

I’ve been averaging ~$25 an order and takes about 45 to shop and deliver with instacart
by (1.5k points)
That's pretty good!

Are they adding any extra incentive due to COVID 19?
by (1.5k points)
@zurheide yeah, I just signed up and have been very impressed.
by (1.5k points)
@zurheide no idea since I just started doing it.
by (1.5k points)
@crinoid ahh gotcha! still really good!
by (3.5k points)
@zurheide I know people are tipping a lot more because of c-19

Not sure which state your located in. Keep in mind your insurance policy might need to be adjusted for coverage while using your car for work. Farmers insurance has recently added an endorsement in WA state to include the coverage for delivery drivers.

Hmmm I never thought about that, I'm in Arizona.

I do Doordash and average about $700/week
by (1.5k points)
How many hours are you working? I'm thinking maybe just trying them all
by (480 points)
@zurheide I work between 30-50 hrs but only active about 40hrs.
by (280 points)
@opprobrium90 WOW! That’s a lot.
by (480 points)
@laureate I had to double check cause I honestly didn't realize I had work that much. LOL. Usually I am active for 3-4 hrs during the day and then again another 3-4 hrs at night. I log in @ 11a but may not get an order til like 12p
by (280 points)
@opprobrium90 I’m impressed you can make that much. I literally had no idea. That’s awesome for you!
by (480 points)
Yeah. It has been a real blessing. My fiance does Instacart. The only thing about that is people will bait you with a good tip and then lower it once the groceries are delivered. Your tip can also be lowered if it is percentage based.

@zurheide watch out for Ubereats. They get happy with deactivating. LOL

Market is flooded now. If you're only gonna work a few hrs here and there you're not going to make much. Also depends on your area how busy these things are. Big cities are high demand not sure anywhere else is
by (1.5k points)
Makes sense. I really just need to make 4-500 extra this month.

My boyfriend does UE and Doordash . Doordash pays you more per trip . He usually looks at where the delivery is going on the map because until he doesn’t accept the delivery he won’t know where he’s going . Sometimes it’s not worth the gas. We live in NYC . Not everyone tips here either .

I’ve been doing UberEats only at lunch time and on the weekends for about 1 hr I can make about 30 bucks and then during the weeks it’s slower at lunch time, but I can still make $10 on one trip and that includes tip. I don’t drive around waiting if I don’t get orders quickly I just go home so that I’m not wasting my gas and time. On their maps it shows where there are surges and where you will get the most orders I try and head over there on the weekends.

Instacart, the pay is way better and you get to pick the deliveries you want

Does Instacart pay something on top of the tip? I’m using them for the first time and am so grateful that I don’t have to go out for anything. I want to make sure my shoppers are well compensated.
by (970 points)
@bipartisan2 they do. Tips are greatly appreciated though ❤️❤️❤️

I did Instacart for 3 days and made about $100. I think I only did like 5 orders. It pays pretty good but you have to be smart about it. The more items in an order and/or the further the delivery address the more you’ll make. I always tried to pick the orders with more items but less delivery. Because you could have an order with 1 item, but it’s 15 miles away and make the same as an order with 20 items, but it’s only 4 miles away - the closer orders mean your using less gas. Right now may be sorta an annoying time to do Instacart because a lot of the stores will be sold out of stuff, but I think customers understand that!

I do Instacart. Pay totally depends on what area you are in. This is a horrible time to start though because customers get angry at your for lack of inventory, etc. Pay is not quite worth it when you account for waiting in lines and being in stores when we’re supposed to be home, etc. But before this, I found it worth it.

Hubby does Grubhub and Chowbus. He was averaging aboyt 800 a week but hes cut back a couple days. Last week he made abour 600. Our 19 year old has complex medical issues and is immune supressed and we are terrified hubby will inadvertently bring covid19 home so hes just doing 3 days a week now.

I do Instacart, GrubHub, shipt, and Postmates. I've gotten more with Instacart. But I started when this whole covid thing began, so I haven't tried shipt yet. Postmates customers SUCK at tipping, and I just started with GrubHub yesterday. I've made $122 in two days. Which is less than what I make on Instacart, but GrubHub allows for minimal human interaction right now.
