I need advice.  How do y’all afford to purchase new clothes each season for your kids?I need advice. How do y’all afford to purchase new clothes each season for your kids? My kids are still young so they outgrown the previous season clothes so I know eventually this won’t be such a huge issue but I just spent $250 on each child on summer clothes. I try to shop consignment shops and marketplace but for used clothes I personally do not see the value when it’s like $4-$5 for a used shirt and I can buy target brand on sale for $3-$4 for a new shirt. I went really minimal and only bought them 10 outfits (shorts/shirt/dresses for the girl) and 10 pajamas and 2 dressy outfits for church. I just don’t know what I’m missing on the savings. I wait till sales happen to purchase. We are pregnant with twins so when I add in the fact that we will have 4 kids to buy for at $250 that’s a $1, 000 a season and that’s just so expensive for clothes!  Edit to add: the pajamas might seem like a lot to everyone but my oldest is 5 and sweats through all his pajamas at night as we live in Florida and it’s hot ‍♀️ and my youngest still wears a diaper and will pee through her diaper onto her pajamas no matter WHAT I do (changing diaper right before bed, cutting liquid after 5 pm, etc. ) We also only do laundry once a week as we have 3 adults in our home & about to be 4 kids so each person has a designated day for their laundry.
I need advice. How do y’all afford to purchase new clothes each season for your kids?

Second hand kids stores! I take what good clothes they have that they don’t fit and trade them for clothing credit and get clothes they fit!

Kids clothes are expensive! We have two boys (4 yrs and 2 months) and here’s how I save money with clothes: 1. ) Upcycle - Almost all of my oldest’s pants and jeans are switched into shorts. I buy maybe 1 colored pair of chinos shorts for the season. And I make a few pajama cotton shorts from on hand fabric to supplement his jammies (mine runs hot too). 2. ) Hand me downs - I love hand me downs that are stain free and in good condition from friends and my local buy nothing group. If I don’t like the style, I use them for play clothes/at home so I only need to buy clothes for church or school. I save the clothes I buy for my youngest when my oldest is finished with them. 2. ) Shop clearance - I load up during seasonal changes and put them in totes in their closet and pull them down when they’re in that size/season. A smaller HM store is great for this. I usually shop their clearance and get several pieces from $3-7, including sweaters. 3. ) Buy up a size - my oldest was growing so fast I couldn’t keep up now that he’s tapering off, I always buy up a size to make sure it lasts all year. 4. ) Capsule wardrobe - everything I buy mixes and matches so I don’t need to buy as much when something is outgrown. I usually need to replace a couple of items. 5. ) Thrift - it took awhile to know which stores to go to for the best prices for certain items. I shop their colored tags and clearance events. I also thrift fabric. 6. ) Make their clothes - I still make pajamas for our oldest which are really easy and fast to do and for our baby I make almost everything - including shoes.

I shop clearance. Children’s place is my jam. I buy during their big sales and clearance only. Just got a bunch of stuff last week for 2 kids. An Easter outfit for each that was actually barley on sale in my eyes lol! Plus 5/6 shirts each, 2 pairs of pjs each, 3-4 pairs of shorts and a pack of socks and swimsuit each. Barley spent $65.

Online clearance only btw. I hate shopping in stores

I budget $500/year and buy two seasons every six months about one size up. The money left over buys different things to mix and match those outfits from the thrift store

Also, Walmart end of summer we got a ton of shorts for $1. And we do a lot of basic colored shirts from Walmart as well. Kids grow out of quickly and often ruin their clothes so we can’t justify spending more than $4 a shirt. And I refuse to buy pants for more than $8.

I buy my daughter's tops a size larger & they last longer. I also look at clearance first, and then shop sales. I rarely shop full price. Also, spread it out. You don't necessarily need to buy it all at once. I'll buy one or two items at a time. We also have a sinking fund for back to school, though we don't usually need to get her much around then. We do let her pick a new outfit, even if it's not on sale.

Thrift stores are a life saver for me. Go to multiple in your area and check prices. There are 2 near my home and 1 that is a couple cities away. I go to the farther one usually because it’s more worth it. I can buy baby clothes for 25-75 cents each. Kids clothes are only $1-$2 each. They use different color tags on the clothes. Each day they choose 3 colors and clothes with those color tags are on sale for 25%, 50%, or 75% off. Besides shoes, the only other thing I buy from a normal clothing store for the kids is their jeans and leggings. My daughter loves leggings and I can find them for cheap and on sale often. My son is about to be 8 and only 45lbs. He’s a stick and normal jeans fit him baggy around the legs and I have to adjust the waist a lot. Children’s place is the only place I’ve found that has jeans he likes. We buy him super skinny slim jeans and still have to pull in 2-3 inches of elastic on each side of his waist. They often have sales so I can get them for about $12 each. Since his waist size doesn’t change much, once he wears out the knees or just gets too tall, I can turn them into shorts for the summer to save some money there.

I shop off season! Also shop around online a lot at dofferent places . Dillards has 40-50% off at the end of fhe month at least every month or every two months. They discount clearance too. I never pay full price . got 3 pairs of levis & 3 shirts for $60 to me that was a steal. I also dont buy everything at once . I may do small purchases once a month or every few months :

I always have the same question. I shop Children’s place when their jeans are $7. 99 and shirts can go as low as $3-$4. I can easily spend $200 a season for my son and I always wonder how people do it with multiple kids!

I have a sinking fund year round. I used to add $20 then as we paid off debt I would increase the amount. Now we are up to $50/month for each kid. I 100% don’t like used clothes. Just a personal thing so I always shop sales.

You need to buy them when they are on clearance at the end of the season! Buy winter clothes in spring, buy summer clothes in fall. Clothes should last more than a season, they don’t need 10 pairs of winter pajamas and 10 pairs of summer pajamas, they need 10 total. Add or take away blankets on the bed instead.
by (1.1k points)
@alida that works until they hit a huge growth spirt and don’t fit into the clothes you bought
by (1.5k points)
I've done this and sometimes waste money because they won't wear what I buy at the end of the season the next year, sometimes they grow out of it before they get to that season or they get an opinion as they grow older about what they want to wear. My two year old was mad every time I put him in a long sleeve shirt or jeans this winter. Hand me downs have been really great from friends though.

Look at clothes zwap swap and orivate private garage sale. Churches and community center also offer good values. Plus how much do you buy? 5 tops and 5 bottoms are enough, just do the laundry more often. ask around, tell people you are looking for used kids clothes. And pass clothes from one kid to the next. 250 is really high.

Some buy ahead. But they're way better at knowing what size everyone will be than i am. I am buying for girls, and we all fluctuate. I don't know how people do it either

I try and shop sales, clearance and resale shops about 6 months before I know they will need it and once their growth slows down I will shop a year ahead when possible. Also, I limit how much I buy of everything. No need for more than 5 pairs of pajamas, 10 pair of underwear, 5 short and 4 long sleeve shirts, 2-3 sweaters or sweatshirts, 2-3 pair of jeans, 5 pair of shorts or capris. I try to buy things that all match each other when possible so it’s easy to make outfits. All bottoms are jeans, khaki, or black in colors. No colorful designs on the pants means it will match whatever top you pair with it. Then 2 bras, 2 sport bras, 2-3 swim suits, a nice pair of sandals that can work for church or nicer places out and a play pair and a pair of sneakers, dress shoes, and a couple church outfits. One play coat, one spring jacket, and a nicer coat for church. Couple pairs of tights- those we go through a lot of  I just outfitted my 5 year old boy and 18 month old for $131 at children’s place (-shoes, coats and underwear but everything else is covered and I got children’s place bucks back to use on another kid) when they were having a sale. Did I love all the colors? Nope. Did they love all the colors or designs? I didn’t even ask them. I try for colors that match a lot and that they like and try to avoid colors and designs they don’t like when I can find but they get what they get when the price is right. I never look at things that aren’t on clearance or sale. If I don’t look I can’t fall in love with it.  We have 6 kids so I am super frugal. Everything gets passed down unless It’s falling apart. The torn jeans my oldest boy outgrew become play pants for my younger when he’s old enough and then his nice pants stay nicer longer. We are the family that makes the kids change clothes to play outside and even go to nana’s house since she has a creek with a rope swing over it and some seriously black dirt that never comes out of things lol

Make sure you save the hammy downs for your kids as long as the season fits, luckily for us it’s been that way. We have three kids. I shop a lot at target cat and jack is great, Walmart has an awesome clothing section with shirts around 2-4 dollars, old navy when they have their big sales and then even more off their clearance section. $250 per kiddo is a lot. I mean I can hit up children’s place on their 75% off sales, and spend $75 for both of my kids (5, 2 1/2) and be perfectly set. We just had our third girl in January and I spent $100 on clothes from newborn-6 months on the target clearance rack. I just got three pairs of shoes off the kids Walmart clearance section here for each of my kiddos for 2. 50 a piece. They’re super cute shoes too!

Sinking fund

by (1.5k points)
That's about $5-$6 per clothing item. I wouldn't say that's too bad a deal when I tried Saver's thrift shop and they were charging $3-5 per item. I'd really just wait for some sales. Children's place online has some amazing sales in each season as does old Navy, Target circle will sometimes have 20% off but you just have to jump on that deal because it doesn't last very long. I'd really budget a sinking fund. Since you are in Florida the weather isn't too drastically different so you really don't need all four seasons of clothing. Maybe just two and see if you can use sales to only pay $200 per kid for each season. That would be about $35-40 per month for each kid to your sinking fund. You could put $50 per kid per month to give you some wiggle room for when you can't get something on sale. Plus babies go through clothes so fast. But if you really can't afford that don't go into debt over it. There are lots of services for families in need in every area.

Buy less and do laundry just a little more often. Like every 5 days. Then you'd only need 5 pjs and 5 pants instead of 10. I cam understand 10 shirts but I honestly think 10 bottoms per kid each season is a lot! And save them for the next kid, especially pjs. Pjs don't need to be new. We use ours until they are almost rags (same pjs for 3 boys)

Wish I had an answer. Each year I spend about $1000 on my 2 kids for the year. That is under garments, clothes, shoes, and outerwear. Some of that is also their backpacks, lunchboxes, and such for the year too. When I shop for the next size up at sales it really helps cut cost. I usually go on tax free weekend for everything I didn't find through the year. I get the bulk of my kids' stuff from Target with some pieces from Ross and Children's Place for my 6 year old son and Rue 21 and Forever 21 for my 13 year old daughter. We always get our coats from Tractor Supply. We shop the Outlet Mall for special pieces and shoes.

I actually purchase a size up for for my daughter so she gets at least two years worth out of it, even if they’re big she’s 8 so it doesn’t really matter. For example when she was 6 I had her in 7/8 clothes. Now that’s she’s 8 turning 9 and out growing them I plan on buying her 10/12
by (820 points)
I also buy stuff when they’re in clearance for the following year. I have a 2 year old so last summer/fall when all the summer stuff went on clearance I purchased her 2T stuff then. I got adorable outfits that normally go for $12-16 for only $5 or $8. And lots of cute “basics” for $1 or $. 50

Shop clearance on good quality clothes that you can hand down from oldest (unisex like pants and t-shirts). Also thrift shops, and I’ve seen boxes of clothes for sale or free on Freecycle, Craigslist. Join moms’ groups - when my kids were little we would have clothing “swaps”. Also buying clothes a size or two big will help them last longer.

I buy all my kids clothes from kohls. I wait for end of seasons and for when things go on clearance. You can use promo codes on sale and clearance items. I usually get pieces for 2. 50 to 4. 40 brand new. I have a 1, 5, and 10 yr old. Of course the 10 yr olds clothes are a little more. I also sometimes buy clothea in the next size up so I have them ready to go.

Walmart, Kohl’s, Target, Marshall’s. Stick to basics and kids can wear your old tee shirt to bed or $5 Walmart men’s tees and start saving for summer clothes months before hand. Target and Walmart tables of basics are $5 or so.

Shop off season. I bought clothes for my 3 for next winter at the end of this winter on clearance. I spent $400 total on socks, undies, and all their winter clothes for next year (plus some cute summer stuff I just had to have). If your twins are the same sex they can share clothes and if either of the older 2 are the same sex start saving everything. I buy everything from Kohl's because it's so cheap. I have a Kohl's card so I get 30% off coupons several times a year and combine that with clearance. I also buy ahead when I do buy for current seasons. So my son will be 7 in July so any summer clothes I buy this year will be 7/8s. My daughter is 4 and tall so I've been buying her 6s. I usually get 2 years out of stuff when I buy this way. Now. Pajamas. If the baby is sweating through them then let them sleep in their underwear. That's what mine do in summer months, then they just change them every morning and I wash sheets once a week. If baby is peeing through their diaper then it night be a good idea to let them sleep in just a diaper and then buy pee pads for their bed.

10 outfits is a lot of a little kid, in my experience. We do a lot of mix and match stuff, so it doesn’t feel like they are always wearing the same thing. We do hand me downs with cousins- my girls are 8 years apart, so it’s not practical for them to swap. T-shirts can be worn year round- just buy up a size. My 6 year old is tiny, and can still wear a 4t. That being said, we did just buy a few new things, because they were getting worn out. We bought size 6-7, and even 8 for a couple of nightgowns (2 for $12 at Costco). She should be able to wear them for a long time.

As many others have said - I shop the sales wherever & whenever I find them. My kids are still very young (B3/G2) so I refuse to pay full price for clothes that without fail they will get stains on 5mins after I put it on their bodies! I probably spend way more on Oxiclean or the like to try to get the stains out!  Anyway as for brand stores: Kohls, Target, Walmart, TJMaxx, Old Navy, Child's Place, etc. - I only shop the sales or clearance section & usually try to stack coupons as much as I can (Kohls cash + 30% off w/Kohls CC). We had some Shopko stores go out of business in our town & I went there the last day for everything 95% off - basically free - I bought everything I could for kids now & later as they grow. I have soooo many panties just waiting for my 3yo to decide he wants to potty train! LOL  However the best place I clean up is St Vincent dePaul - normally clothes are $0. 25-$1 each . BUT every few months they have either $5 bag sales or $0. 10 baby clothes sales. That is when I really stock up & even buy sizes ahead (shoes too). I have boxes full of clothes sorted by size waiting for my kids to grow into them. I also try to buy some "neutral" clothes for my son that my daughter can wear too. There are also some community resources like free stores & care clinics that have free clothes available - even for adults too. Take what you need & then redonate them when kids outgrow them. Now I'm by NO MEANS a "label person" but even so I'm always surprised by the great clothes I find at St. Vinnys . lots of brand names & even brand new clothes with tags on! Amazing what people donate! I will also check out the FB marketplace for locals selling used clothes & have got a lot of good deals that way. Then like I said - when kids outgrow I will either try to sell them on FB (best condition) or donate them to others in need.

If you live in Florida I'm sure it's like Houston Texas. We have 3 jeans and a few long sleeves and wear shorts the whole year. It doesn't get very cold here but maybe a week or 2 in January. So honestly we don't need to buy a bunch of clothes. Plus we wear our clothes 2 times before washing. Unless we sweat which we rarely do since we are uses to the weather. Son sleeps in underwear no PJs required. My son is 3 and I have a 2 month old.

Buy nothing group and local fb parent groups for free clothes, or a flat price for like a bag. I don’t care if stuff is new. Also, I save anything gender neutral and pass it on to the next kid. Neutral plain tops and pants, and pajamas, can be used by multiple kids. I save them in a space saver bag and put a paper with the sizes inside so I can see at a glance, and rotate it in once little brother is the right size. Or I trade with friends who have kids slightly older than mine, and ask for their hand-me-downs. And do laundry more often, I combine my kids clothes in one load and do it more often so they need less clothes, even though my two year old pees through his pajamas a lot and we’re potty training, and my 6 year old loves to get sweaty and dirty outside. Also, if you’re in Florida you don’t need that much different stuff for different seasons - isn’t it hot or hotter? (I’m in WA state, and we get more use out of summer clothes by layering with leggings and sweaters over dresses and tanks. ) Try to get items that you can use year round and just get a couple layering pieces for cooler weather, and maybe one or two pairs of jeans.

@tiliaceous16044 Fullum we still get somewhat brutal winter weather just not for as long as the rest of the states lol I live in the upper part so it can drop down below 30s some days! But yeah we usually just buy jeans and jackets come fall/winter.

Group kids laundry instead. So every 2 - 3 days you're doing a whole load of mixed kids laundry. It's worth it to save you like 6 pairs of PJs for 4 kids at least yearly, that's like 24 pairs, like $240 a year saved. My oldest wears a pull up to bed and we still only have 4 pairs of PJs for her, could probably do less.

I budget $100 and go to Walmart. Their mix and match pieces are less than $4 each. My daughter is 4. That $100 will buy all Shorts, tanks, sandals, and her swimsuit. Shes gonna destroy them anyways, so the less I can spend the better.

We buy from consignments, one in particular we'll shop on their last day were everything that isnt marked a certain way is half off, I use to sell through them too and make $200 a season. I couldnt keep up after our youngest was born, with work full time and three kids, the consignment sale got to be too much work to tag, price and volunteer. We are also lucky enough to have several thrift shop locations to look through. We also put their clothes away at the end of the season and bring out last years wash them since they've been in a tote in the attic for six months, then play runway to see what fits who and if it doesnt fit either or neither one was interest in a piece then it goes into a resale pile for marketplace, craigslist or a yardsale. Last year I think we spent $150 for three kids for "school/seasonal clothes", but I have a sinking fund for next school year, and thats for pants longer than neccessary for them to grow into, shoes and a backpack clothingwise. My MIL also buys our three kids (and my husband and myself) clothes for our birthdays and Christmas. She's also a person that buys in off season to give us gifts. It works out perfectly for my husband and, becase we're summer babies  we'll get some summer and winter clothes for Christmas, and winter and summer clothes for our birthdays. The one thing I keep seeing though, is that everyone has a specific day in the house to do laundry, do the kids specifically have to have their own day also or can they share two days a week? Or just throw one's pjs (if those are the things soiled) in the others laundry(or yours) so they can be washed more often? I understand your home has a schedule, but i was thinking those might be ways to help you out. Might help if you could designate as two kids days vs. two individual kid's day. That way both kids you're able to wash their clothes twice a week instead of once and maybe not have to buy so much? Like I said, we are a family of five, my husband, myself and our 14 year old are able to do our laundry once a week and get away with, our two daughters are in size 6-8 share a hamper, but their clothes are still small enough that they can share a hamper and usually everything fits in one load unless they go through numerous outfit changes or there's lots of swimming clothes/towels like when they go to summer day camp. They are usually in a swimsuit two to three days a week going somewhere to splash which makes our washing increase to two loads a week for them. Sounds like you've gotten a lot of good advice with all of the responses. I hope you find out what will work best for you and your family in your home.

I have a sinking fund that I put $50/biweekly into. I just buy as needed. I don’t buy a lot all at one time. Just here and there. We also live in Florida, so summer clothes are pretty much year round. That probably helps.

A lot of good suggestions. I always buy at the end of the season for the following year. So I’ll shop for winter clothes right now as the summer clothes is coming on sale & save it for next year. I buy summer clothes during the fall/winter sales. I don’t buy thrift store cause it weirds me out, especially when I can get fairly cheap new clothes if I shop the season before.

Thrift & Garage sales. They want $3 for a shirt? Pass. The next place will have "fill a bag for $1". Also i try buy gender neutral for most stuff and my daughters clothes get passed to my son. If you have friends that have kids right above/below you see if they'll pass clothes along for free.

My kids wear all garage sale or 2nd hand. I'm super frugal when it comes to clothing. After awhile you learn which city wide garage sales are worth it and where people sell name brand for cheap. My baby wear all puma and adidas track suits and I've never spent more then $3 a whole outfit
by (3.6k points)
@eudemonia I also love Marshalls ! Those track suits lasted through 3-4 kids and less than $15 an outfit

My daughter wears a tshirt and panties to bed. We bought my son white tshirts and boxer shorts for his jammies. Easy peasy. We are fans of Children's Place. Niece sale on right now. Have $250 for both kids for this summer. My daughter has to have completely new size of everything. she is a mid season growth spurt and we make it work until the end .

Truthfully i do kids consignment sales- usually twice a year and shop for the next season or size up- I get clothes in great shape usually under $2 a piece. Well worth the wait. I’ve even sold at them and made $350 by selling other kids items that were collecting dust. Usually put on my JBF or parents of multiples here in Austin

If you want to save money on clothes I would go on the selling Facebook pages to buy clothes because you can buy really nice clothes and cute clothes and sometimes there brand new and they sometimes have wear you can get a garbage bag full of clothes for a good price and you might be able to find a lot of people where you live at that are selling there kids clothes that they grow out of I would check it out if I was you and you can even buy shoes on the selling Facebook page also because I buy clothes at Walmart and I buy the ones that are on clearance or that are like anywhere from $3 to $5 and I go to Gabe’s when I can and I also bought clothes and shoes for my daughter on the selling Facebook pages and most of the clothes was new

@recept Nickole Ross I just saw multiple posts on fb market place 44 pieces for $30! Or 10 pants 4T for $20! Awesome deals especially with babies cuz they grow out quickly

@cauliflower that’s not a bad deal at all and yes they sure do

Laundry once a week is still less then 10. No pajamas at night especially if it warm. A good old t shirt from will do. Church shouldn't be about dressing for others but building a relationship with the God, so any of the other 10 outfits would do or get more cheap versatile pieces instead. Then buy bulk from other moms, large consignment events. Then my favorite is off season $2. 50, 2 piece outfits from Dollar General. They last thru all the play and washing, and 2 pieces to mix and match with others.

So far I've been able to buy clothing lots on marketplace but I'm only up to 6T so far. I can get a whole huge bag of clothes for 10-20. I buy shoes at thrift stores for my kids. I have 3 kids and havent bought them new clothes yet.

Theres 7 days a week we try to stick to 5 outfits per season maybe an extra shirt here or there that would match something already have. Pjs they are old wore out clothes. Most pjs cost more than actual clothing its ridiculous

4 kids. 1 girl. All my kids passed clothes down and we went through friends, etc to pass them down. When they were younger I would buy all the next years clothes as soon as the next season came out. ex:all the next year's summer clothes as winter clothes were put out. I remember buying children's place items for $1 and saving them 8-10 months. When they get older they ask for clothes for birthdays and christmas but each season does not happen

Also, pajamas were passed down, older siblings worn out tshirts, or sometimes dads tshirts unless it was pajama day at school. My kids refuse to wear them at this point. Maybe a bonus bc I don't have to buy them

Its quite a challenge isn't it! One little tip I can give, is you could try putting a reusable cover over your girl's nappy at night. My favourite are Nicki's Diaper covers or Blueberry Capris. They seem a lot to buy initially, but well worth it to prevent leakages and you can reuse them for your twins later.

First child and I haven’t spent close to that on clothes. She’s 6 months now but wears 9m. Is there a buy/nothing FB group in your city/town? I’d search that. 90% of my daughters items are gifted to me. From jumper to toys and clothes. Once she outgrows them I gift them to another mama. It’s great! I’m also part of other FB groups where moms and neighbors swap and gift items for free like couches, tables, washers you name it . Hope there’s something like that where you are. As for laundry, I try to do it daily so I don’t feel overwhelmed with mountain of clothes. I try to follow the minimalist mom mantra but I’m not very minimalist . I’ve read laundry daily helps and so far it has! Best of luck. Kids are so expensive

Do you coupon at all? I use lots of coupons at carters & Kohl’s! I always shop at Carters at the end of the season for the next year seasons, things are majorly discounted and usually you can use coupons!
by (540 points)
@laniferous 2nd this. Also buy sizes about a size bigger than they currently are. Can get things to stretch from late spring to early fall time doing this.

I don't do this anymore because we make "too much" but what I used to do was when we got our tax return I'd buy gift cards to the stores I usually shopped at for my boys clothes. Then when they'd need something I had the money for it already set aside. PLUS it helped cut the costs itself down because if I ever found a really good clearance sale then I could afford to buy ahead as well. You might have to do this for a couple of years to really notice the massive savings but it will eventually happen if you stick with it. Also you might see if you can find a swap group in your area. It's where you bring the items your kids have grown out of and then you get different ones that they can wear.

My kids had friends that had older siblings that would hand close down, which was always awesome, and we did the same paying it forward by passing our good clothes down to neighbors kids who were smaller. Hopefully you have some friends or neighbors that have kids that are bigger than yours. Good luck :)

My kid was a Target kid from the day he was conceived. I also did clothes swaps with other parents whose kids had grown out of stuff. Most of it hadn't been worn more than a year. One parent had started a swap closet and used her mad organizational skills to arrange by gender and size. You brought something, you take something. It was great and free.

We do laundry daily, no one wears pjs (shorts & oversized tshirts year around). Four of us here, two adults & two teens. We have more tops & less pants/shorts.

Check out Freecycle groups in your area for free clothes. Shop the sales. I buy a size or two up for next year. I get clothing for under $5 sometimes $1 at Walmart. Salvation Army has family days in my area on Wednesday’s. So clothing can be wicked cheap but you need to get there first thing in the morning. Pajama sets can be cheap at Walmart as well. I found several sets for $3 (frozen, jo-jo, etc). I bought several in a size up. If each person has a laundry day once a week, have enough clothes for the season for the week. Then add on extras as needed for the circumstances you mentioned. You could try buying a size up in diapers and see if that helps the wetting at night. You could also add a pad into the diaper for extra absorption.

ThredUP and Swap. com shopping for Clothing and shoes and making sure to use the honey browser extension (it automatically applies discount codes at check out) - both websites usually have GREAT sales going on but the honey app makes sure You get the best deal (free shipping + % off your order) — I also send in my sons cloths and consign with each website, so I can turn around and just buy the next size I need. You can consign for store credit or cash. I usually participate in local consignment sales but due to current circumstances, I missed most of them or they didn’t happen. eBay is also a great source for used clothing lots that are name brand.

I shop the Cat & Jack brand at target. I have a 3 year old son. I only buy him shoes and clothes twice per year. Once in the spring (shorts, sandals, short sleeve shirts) and once in the winter (pants, sweats, jeans, long sleeves and sweaters). I wait until the 20% off cat and jack clothing coupon comes out on target circle thats when I got and get everything in one trip and spend about $75-$120 only twice a year
