I don't want to start a debate, but if you didn't finish your college degree, does it bug you emotionally? Do you feel incomplete?

I wish I never wasted my time and money. Thought I wanted to be a teacher. Went for four years. All I had left to do was student teach and then I decided I hated kids and didn’t want to deal with their asshole parents. I had 120 credit hours so figured I mine as well get some degree since I spent so much time and money already. Went for another year to get my bachelors in English and writing. Huge waste. That was in 2010 and I said I was done forever. In like 2012 I started going for nursing. Took a break to have my son. Went back but then took another break and haven’t been back since. It’s too late now bc it’s been almost 5 years and I’ll have to start over. I have over $100, 000 in loans.

I wouldn’t feel Incomplete, cause my degree doesn’t define me, but I would definitely feel like I’m not at my full potential career-wise. With my current job I’m bringing in six- figures every year and wouldn’t have been able to do that without my degree. And I knew that going in.

No cause I still do something I enjoy. I work for my self now even though when I finished school it was personal reasons that deterred me. Life threw me a challenge (protecting a granddaughter) . one I took head on and never looked back and / or regretted. I am a firm believer of there is a reason for everything.

I didn’t, & it doesn’t bother me one bit as that track was not the right path for me. I’m just annoyed I’m still paying on student loans ‍♀️

Yes. I’d like to get that piece of paper one day to make paying these student loans mean something, and to just say “I did it! ” I planned to take a semester off, but never went back. I’m a senior

Yup especially now that I'm planning on going back to school and I think I could of had a master's degree or something by now but we live and learn and life happens so you handle it the best way you know how

Not at all and I’m thankful I’ve never had a student loan either. I am incredibly privileged in the companies I’ve worked for and my career progression and having “fallen” into a lucrative career that I absolutely love. Finishing that degree would mean more to other people than it would to me. ‍♀️

I have a college degree and earn 24, 000 a year. My Husband does not and clears over 120, 000. So there's that.

I kick myself for not going. But at the same time, I STILL don't know what I want to do and I graduated 20 years ago

Yes and no. I have one more course to finish my accounting degree, but I failed it the first time and just have no motivation to finish the degree since I’m not sure what it would do for me. I should really finish it, but I really suck at it

Mixed feelings. I feel I work harder because I have to stay current. I do know my salary is exactly where it would be if I had a degree but the one reason I got here is working extra hard. I am still pursuing my bachelor’s which works pays for and aim to finish after work by 2022. I only have 7 courses to finish. I have learned a lot of what I do on my own and through many mentoring and leadership programs at my employer. Ironically I’m part of two teams heading up learning trends and curriculum at work because I’m so involved with independent learning. I don’t believe in traditional learning which is why I didn’t go to school in the first place. Call it stupid but I didn’t want to conform.

Yes, it is something I would eventually like to complete. If I hadn’t started, I don’t think it would bother me as much.

Yes. I like to feel like I finished something. I'm halfway through a Master degree. But the more I think about it, the more I know that I can still do what I want to do without it.

Yes! Being in the military I didn’t really need a degree for my job but because I feel like I need it, I’m going back start March!

Nope. I still have a good career in an industry that doesnt have a degree (finance is closest, maybe accounting but no one degree tree focuses on payroll or even has a large payroll component which is just silly really) and I have been able to get certification.

I think about it every day and it's been over 10 years. Thankfully I work at a place now that will pay a portion when I decide to go back. I'm pretty intimidated by the placement tests and want to brush up on them.

@total I know I don’t know you, but don’t let any of it intimidate you. You are stronger and smarter than you realize

Yes! I went to college at 18 and had no clue how the college life worked and also received bad advice from other students. So, I didn't take it as serious as I should have. Then dropped out due to an abusive situation. Years later I was finally able to get out of that relationship and returned to college. I had to retake classes at a different college that wouldn't penalize me for my past mistakes. Then, I got into a car wreck on my way to class one day. I nearly died and became disabled. I wasn't able to continue college and it REALLY bothers me emotionally. It makes me feel like a failure.

@evermore well you are NOT a failure! You lived thru something horrible and are blessed to be alive so every day is an opportunity for you. If that's your passion give it another try but if it's not meant to be then you can always dream a new dream ❤

Yes, I do, but then I look at how far I’ve come without it and I’m pretty dang proud of what I’ve accomplished.

Nope. I’ve had experiences in my life that people I know with degrees wish they had.

Yes it does. Felt like I failed. But I know people who are successful, happy, and not college educated.

It bothers me because I have student loan debt for basically nothing to show for it. It doesn’t bother me because I have found success in a field that a degree is not needed.

That said, I’ve recently decided to finish my degree and will be done this fall. Without taking out loans. I’ve decided to finish it just to prove to myself I can do it.

Yes and no. Yes because it was always a goal of mine. And it bugs me that I haven’t completed it. However, I’ve worked very hard in my career and did a lot of educating myself in a non traditional way. At this point a degree won’t advance my career which is why I haven’t finished it yet. I love my job and earn a significant salary so it hasn’t been a loss.

I got into nursing school right after college. I went to UMASS for 2 semesters but couldn’t pass A+P. I didn’t want to disappoint my parents so I did another semester of Accounting. I hated it. So I dropped out all together. I think about it at times, especially when my friends who were in the program with me now have their bachelors. But hey, my decisions led me to my husband and my daughter, so I can’t complain too much.

Yes and no. I would like to finish mine, I had only just started it, but to me the price it costs to get it isn't worth it because it will do nothing for me professionally where I'm at.

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I didn't get pregnant. You know what though, I love my life. I have spent every day with my son(he is almost 13). If I would have finish we probably would have been up to our eyeballs in student loans. I have 0 regrets on my choices. Maybe after he is raised and gone I will go after financial planning or accounting, as I thoroughly enjoy it. Otherwise who knows.
