Has anyone here ever had to do an amend to their income tax ? I filed mine too early , and I didn’t include a form. Looking for any suggestions / experiences with this matter . trying to not freak out. Can’t do much until amend option opens through turbo tax.

I have an I believe you have to mail them in. Send then certified because mine got lost the first time. An if you expect money back it takes forever

@darreldarrell how did you know it was lost? Do they confirm when it’s received in some form?

No I had called in because it seemed like it was forever. An they did not have record of it.

We had to amend ours three years ago because we missed a W2. It all had to be signed and mailed in. We didn't end up getting a return until August. The IRS should tell you exactly what to do.

So I didn’t include my health insurance but turbo tax didn’t ask me to? I just received proof from kaiser today in the mail and I was like oops. I don’t know if I need to adjust mine but it was already approved

@vain43381 same but turbo tax did ask me last year but not this year

@vain43381 I don’t know that you have to have it anymore. You will no longer be penalized if you don’t have insurance.

Had to amend ours one year. We originally filed in early February and it took over 6 months after the April 15th deadline to get our return so have patience!

I forgot a W2 this year. I had briefly worked at this place last January for 2 weeks so I totally forgot about it. I was researching it earlier and I saw something they said if you’re expecting a refund to wait until you get your refund. I can’t remember where I read it though so I don’t know how accurate that is.

I had to amend mine last year because a form came late and my work messed up on my W-2 form. I had to call the IRS and fax forms to the state (which cost money) then I had to mail forms to the state and federal governments via certified mail (get it certified! It costs more but you will get a receipt that your amended return got in the right hands). It took FOREVER to get my return though so just keep that in mind. My tax person said last year that I should have started filling out the forms and waited to file until I was sure I got all my forms and that is what I’m doing this year.
