We moved into our new house in December and theirs a new cooker. Every time I cook something it stinks  the whole house smells of it. How do I get rid of the smell?

When I got a new cooker the people at curry’s who installed it said you need to leave it on with nothing init so the smell will clear xx

Leave it on for a couple hours with nothing in. Doors opend too

@amphiaster can i ask why not? Every new cooker i have owned iv always done this as this is what they tell you to do. Iv never has a gas cooker either always electric.

@amphiaster doesn’t make any difference, your supposed to preheat them with nothing in. Makes no difference to anything (oven engineer)

@aerophobia was going to say. my ovens fine. I'm very forgetful sometimes on a regular my ovens pre heating for an hour lol

I’ve got a fan oven installed last year - electrician said you need to leave it on for abit with nothing in x

Leave it on full heat for a couple of hours with the door shut not open or it won't burn the chemicals off x

If it gas you have to clean it with mild soap water before use

As above love I got one last wk it has to burn the stuff off like ladies say put it on high heat open windows an doors soapy water or I just use the clear spray in oven and microwave other things can taint the smell of the food cooking xx

When I got a new cooker Hughes told me to leave it on for 15 minutes for the smells etc to clear and it absolutely stunk lol xxx

Try cooking some citrus fruits like lemons in water. Might eliminate the smell quicker.

I got a new cooker at weekend, bloody stunk, but it's getting better by the day, just leave on for a while it will soon go as times goes on

Leave it on and open the back door, as it gets used more the pong will go!

You need to burn it in. . put a bowl of lemon juice and baking soda and water in the oven for half an hour.
