My dad used a scrubbing brush and washing soda crystals in a bucket of water. Believe me you will be astounded. Brought back the pattern that was hardly seen ( 9 kids )

I have done the mop and bucket one loads . it helps if you give a good sweep with a stiff sweeping brush before. I found it lifted the pile up

Bucket of water with whatever detergent in, scrubbing brush and a towel. I did my stairs like that and they came up great, use an old towel to rub hard after scrubbing it takes some of the dirt and water out.

Hi all, I had a full jar of malt extract (sticky molasses like liquid) spilled on a deep pile carpet and although I’ve tried cleaning it up with warm soapy water and scraping it off with a plastic card, it feels sticky still and I can feel that there is some under the carpet as it feels squishy.
