Brown wax Crayon. You can get a wax french polishing kit cheap online, but a brown Crayon will probably do the job cheaply! Or even some brown boot polish. Melt the wax into the scratch, then buff.

I think I have read about a cut walnut rubbed over it. It's the nut oils that do it
