I didn't know it was an issue either, but I can't imagine trying to cross Touhy with people going 50 mph in some areas. I think they have some good ideas (moving the bus stop, lowering the speed limit) in the article, along with a pedestrian bridge. All of this together would save lives, which I think is worth it.

It's no safer at the light, where people are turning at high speeds, no marked crosswalks or lighting, and it's a full two blocks out of the way for workers. I don't think a bridge is a practical solution either. Maybe the bus just needs to turn in and make a stop at Skychefs.

How about not? I don’t see where government has to do more when the pedestrian was probably trying to rush to make it across and the driver probably wasn’t paying attention. This is not a “throw money at it” situation and, as usual, moylan and Murphy are all wet. Neither one had done anything except spend money that’s ours, not theirs.

I drive thru there almost everyday, driving not walking. I didn't know it was an issue! However there is alot of traffic going thru this area so I can see how it can be dangerous.

No lights, they wear very dark clothing and they run in front of u when traffic instead of waiting to be clear. I travel and seen it

Maybe they should move the bus stops closer to the cross walks. People cross by United like this too because the bus stop is in front of Barnaby's instead of at the light where they can cross safely. -No clear crossing path at Touhy and Lee either (Lake Opeka. ) Same number of lanes, same speeds, lighting is better places for pedestrian to wait safely if they did not make it through all lanes when they started crossing. less accidents.
