Question

Hi ladies I want to explore this spring time. next month we’re going to Galena this will be our first time. and I want to check out Holland, Michigan too . do any of you been to Holland Michigan? When is the best time to visit?

Holland is such a cute town! Any time in summer is a good time to go. South Haven and Saugatuck/Douglas are also close to Holland and so nice too!

My parents have a house on a small lake outside of South Haven and we are there a lot over the summer. South Haven is right on Lake Michigan with tons of shops and restaurants. Definitely feels like a beach vacation there. I prefer it over Holland.

Holland MI is amazing. But I suggest you go late August or even September if you want to swim in the beach.

@meit87 yes the beaches are beautiful in Holland but the water is still very cold in June and July. It takes sometime for it to warm up. Just like our beaches here in Chicago.

Galena is beautiful! I know it very well. Will you be with kids or without? Just so I can give you the best things to do.

@meit87 , fun! Durty Gurt's restaurant downtown Galena is fun, 10 min north in Dubuque is a fabulous aquarium and also an indoor water park, and depending on how old your child is, Dubuque has underground caves to explore that are fun.

Holland Michigan is known for their tulips so spring time is beautiful but you might want to go in the summer

Tulip Time is fantastic. Check the calendar as it changes every year. And go at the beginning of the period not the end.

We went for Tulip Festival last year. Town is super cute, and even though weather was horrible we really enjoyed our time there. Plan on going back in the summer next time.

@meit87 it was second weekend of May. Mother’s Day weekend which was perfect for a girls trip - my mom, me and my daughter

Use to camp in South Haven when we were kids we would go to Sunny Brooke Farm South Haven and Holland and Saugatuck so cute and great shopping. Summer if best, go to go to Sherman Ice cream in South Haven. I miss SBF so much

I used to go to Holland as a kid. I distinctly remember their Tulip Festival, which was beautiful.

I think Grand Haven has a pirate fest in August that was fantastic. I took my scaly wags one year for a few days. Lots of fun.
