Has anyone had or their kids have an appendicitis? My son has been complaining for 3 days now that his stomach hurts right by his belly button, no throwing up but he keeps feeling like he needs to. He will be fine then all of a sudden start crying in pain. It woke him up in the middle of the night. No fever, with everything going on I don’t want to rush him to the ER if it’s nothing. Advice please.

Last thought, has he pooped lately? Didn’t know if perhaps it was extreme constipation.

Hi! I had appendicitis several years ago. Mine just started out as a dull pain, which then escalated to constant vomiting and my body went into convulsions. So my advice would be to call the doctor and let him know the symptoms. Or there is also online doctors you can speak to as well! Good luck! Hope your baby feels better!

Yeah, I would call your doc. They may have you press certain areas to see what response your son has. My husband had his out several years back, the symptoms went on for a few days and it wasn’t anything overly concerning, he actually thought he had eaten too much at Thanksgiving. His pain wasn’t even specific to the lower right quadrant. Ended up in the ER Sunday night just to be safe, doc pressed on his belly, he yelped, got a quick scan and went right into surgery. Doctor said it probably would have burst Monday morning.

Could also be a hernia? Definitely call the doc

@rouen what would the symptoms be?

@agnesse438 sporadic, shooting pain, sometimes you can see a small bulge where the pain is located. especially if it’s behind his belly button, could be an umbilical hernia. just a suggestion

I had an abdominal hernia when I was a kid and I used to have bouts of pain come and go before it was fixed.

My 9 year old cousin had it on thanksgiving. He had vomiting and fever but when they took it out it had started to rupture. I imagine you could call your doc and they could evaluate in office and refer you to ER if they thought it was warranted?

Yes, call the doc. You don't want it to burst if it is apendicitus.

Both my husband and I have had our appendix removed. The telltale sign for me is if you push on the area and it hurts but when you release the pressure from where you pushed it the pain is excruciating.

Call your doctor, appendicitis can be really serious if not treated. a test that my mom would do to me, she was a nurse, was to press hard on the appendix area and release quickly, if that hurt than it’s appendix
