Does anyone have WOW for internet? I see their prices seem good but is the internet fast and reliable? We have Xfinity right now and it's okay but our bill is about to double in a few months when our introduction promo rate expires.

I had WOW for years. 9 to be exact. I really liked them as a company and their internet was totally fine. Truly rarely an outage. Always got someone on the line if I had to call. Always willing to give me a deal if my bill got too high. My husband wanted xfinity which I feel is like doing business with satan.  I hate them. however, they do have a great on demand and live streaming which you will not find on WOW. So it really depends on what bells and whistles you want.

Thanks! Super helpful. We don't use cable but we do want our internet to be fast and reliable because we stream all of our TV.

@signesignet - I never had an issue with their internet. Good luck

If anyone in your household is a student you can get the 20$ a month Xfinity internet deal for 1 year.
by (2.8k points)
Thanks, that's a good tip but we don't have any students.
by (6.2k points)
@gemagemara does that apply for everyone. I have Xfinity and i have 3 students and they never told us about that

@comprehensive i have discovered on my own as well. You have to go online , check Xfinity students and you need to add the name of the school they go to and they will switch it for you. You can also call Xfinity. Is very helpful.

@comprehensive you also get Amazon prime for free 6 months as a student

We just switched to WOW from Comcast a few months back and its saved us $100 a month. The internet has never been faster or more reliable. I work from home a few times a week so it's extremely important for me to have reliable service. Hope this helps!

We have had WOW since we moved here 3 years or so ago and it’s been fine for us! I think we have 100 MPs and we do a lot of streaming and working from home (now especially! ) and don’t have issues. We switched from Xfinity as well. We use YouTube TV and other streaming services so we only needed Internet and not cable. We also bought our own modem and router, Google’s works great!

We recently left WOW and went back to Xfinity. At least in Arlington Heights we had been experiencing connectivity issues, needing to reset the modem almost daily, and lagging. This was 60MBPS and using it for school online or streaming netflix while maybe on FB on a phone. Xfinity has us at 200 MBPS for like $5 more and we have their free dvr/stream box which is pretty nice.

Wow is awesome! Have had it for several years and no problems. Great service, no call centers, actual friendly helpful people.
by (7.9k points)
@carrero7 of course they have call centers. Otherwise no one would answer the phone. The last time I called I spoke with Jasmin in Costa Rica.
by (7.7k points)
@cheng I've never had an issue with them and have had them for roughly 8 years now. I've only had to call them twice in eight years so..  My wife even uses them for her practice, that's how reliable they have been.

I had Wow for a while, but had reliability problems. Then they raised my rate way higher than Comcast, so I switched back to Xfinity.

We just switched to Wow cause Xfinity was expensive we always went over on usage and it was not the best speed. Switched to Wow right before this quarantine and so far no issues. no complaints at all.

We’ve had them for 12 years. Comcast before that. My husband loathes Comcast and would never go back. Rarely an issue with WOW.

This has been going on over a year. Corporate told me too bad, you signed a 2-year contract
by (4.1k points)
@meridional Have them come and replace the Gateway receiver
by (4.1k points)
Bern there, done that.
by (1.5k points)
@matthieu349 replaced . No change
by (4.1k points)
@meridional hmmm, did you ask them to escalate it? Did you talk with a supervisor?
by (440 points)
@meridional Had it for one week and cancelled really bad
by (1.5k points)
@matthieu349 yes, they have been out, numerous times, I called everyday to tech for almost 8 months. Corporate calls during the work day, leaves a message to a number that no one ever answers and then tells the BBB that they attempted to rectify the problem.

@meridional Oh man!

I work from home in IT Support and find AT&T 50 mbps DSL more than adequate for my needs. I've also optimized my home WiFi network to ensure maximum throughput to all my devices.
