People do use it. I believe it will kill the bugs as long as you cover all of the hair with it. I don’t think that it kills the eggs unfortunately. There is a product at Walgreens and Walmart called lice free that will kill both the bugs and eggs.

Go to a lice salon. It’s worth it.

It was the ONLY thing that was successful when my sibling had lice as a kid. They tried all the over the counter stuff available and none of it worked. The Mayo + shower cap overnight for a few nights in a row worked.

My sister swears by Cetaphil. Coat the whole head in Cetaphil cleanser, let it sit for an hour, then blow dry (this takes forever) and then wash out.

Can I please just ask you to share openly with any friends or family who may be impacted by lice? If your child is in school, schools are not required to notify families. Lice is easily shared, and with open communication it can be easily caught and removed. It is not easy, but we need to address it openly, without judgement! You are not alone. Feel free to send me a PM if you have questions.

I have super thick dark hair! My mom had tried everything! Mayo was the only thing that worked! Put on hair at night, slept with a night cap, washed my hair and then straightened! Did that 2 nights and lice free!

Coconut oil worked better for us. You still have to comb out nits every couple of days.
