I’m trying to figure out some logistics for next school year. I’ll have one in Kindergarten and one in pre-k. Both start at 9am, how do you make two drop offs at two different schools work?

The Kindergartener can likely be in a before care program. Not sure which school/district you're in. We're in 59 and my son has always been in before care because i need to drop off well before 9am to get my daughter to daycare and myself to work on time

@sedate thanks I’ll look into that! We’ll be at Central Elementary in the fall.

@infeld is your child doing extended day Kindergarten? Will your preschooler be at ELC?

@chevaldefrise she won’t be no. We haven’t decided 100% yet on which preschool

@infeld oh ok otherwise I was going to say have them both start at ELC would be easier

@chevaldefrise ELC has Kindergarten?

@infeld extended day kindergarten so she/he could start their day there with your preschooler. Then they would bus he/she to their hone school in the afternoon (Central).

I think it’s probably more important that the kindergartner be on time. If it’s District 62, drop off typically begins at 8:45 AM which you wouldn’t need to pay any before-school care costs to drop off at that time. Maybe talk to the pre-K and let them know you may be occasionally a couple minutes late.

@gibberish oh that helps! If I can drop her off at 8:45 I might even make it to preschool on time dropoffs usually go until 9:10 anyway!

@infeld yes! We are in the same situation with the two 9 AM drop offs at 2 schools this year. I think we’ve only had one morning where the pre-K drop off was just a couple minutes late!

I recall the SPARK program at the ELC (at Forest) started at 9:15. If you drop off kinder first at Central and then head over to preschool you should be able to make it. Make sure you sign up right away for ELC since spots can go fast. I don't recall the pick up times but I would think they'd also be offset by 15 minutes too. For me I was in your same situation for two years with one at ELC and one in grammar school but we entered Iroquois lottery and got accepted. Iroquois starts at 8am so plenty of time in between. In case you wanted to consider that as a possible option. Depends on the lottery though. Then younger sibling would automatically get in.

@chevron oh that’s good to know, I’ll check it out thanks!

You’ll be fine. Like they said above drop off for d62 schools are 15 minutes before. And if you’re at Central you will be able to make it to the ELC by 9.

Okay helpful ladies! One more question, ELC vs Creative Corners? Any opinions?
