I am not trying to bash a business but just want everyone to expect cashiers and stockers at the Walmart near Golf mill are not working responsibility. Made the mistake of going to Walmart for groceries two days ago. The stocker putting FOOD on the shelves had her mask pulled down over her mouth but exposing her nose. When I mentioned it to her (politely) she ignored me. Another stocker stood there next to her tall merchandise cart, in the middle of a food aisle, mask loose around her neck, chatting on her phone. The cashier also had his mask pulled down over his mouth but not his nose. I asked him if he “could please pull up” his mask before he scanned my groceries. He said “No. I can’t breathe. ” (I took my groceries to the self checkout instead. ) While on my way to check out I saw a young adult pull his mask off his face, open a bottle of body wash, stick his nose up close to smell the scent. He capped it back up, and put back on the shelf. (I wanted to shout at him, but was shocked frozen). What good are security guards outside stopping shoppers who don’t wear masks from going inside? It’s the lax staff and lack of monitoring that makes me never want to ever shop at Walmart again.

While I understand your concerns and reasonable fears. I think you should consider walking a mile in the shoes of a person working in stores every day and learning to navigate the “new Norm”. Before judging them and calling them out. You visit the store briefly every few weeks, they are pulling 12 hour shifts.
by (1.5k points)
@ard As I have said in this mean spirited thread previously, every worker I encounter, I thank for working and serving us during these difficult times. Every single postal worker, delivery person, store worker, and my fellow medical workers. Thanks formal, your stupid judgements of someone you don’t have a clue about. I have put in 90 hour weeks at work, and honestly you have no idea of what I go through, nor the respect or politeness I show to others. I work in the health sector, have worked in retail, in restaurants, and know what customer service is and should be. I have also had to work in a mask for 12 hours, and I have had life long respiratory issues. Now just stop.
by (1.9k points)
@endoergic4 no. You’re rude You go around telling people how to do their job and use your resume as justifications to why you have the right too. You have no right to go around harassing people at their jobs.
by (1.5k points)
@ard whom have I harassed? You are so out of line it’s crazy. I thank everyone every day: cashiers, stockers, etc. I also would expect someone to follow the rules if asked politely. Why is that wrong in your eyes? Closed minds are not helping this pandemic. I am not alone either. The village officials in Niles yesterday told me they have been beleaguered with calls from Lutheran General Hospital, and customers of stores not following the rules. Walmart, Jerry’s Fruit Market, and many others not following safety protocols. What part of this are you not understanding? By the way, I am also speaking as a senior citizen with lifelong respiratory problems. How dare you tell me I cannot protect loved ones, or myself in public spaces.
by (1.9k points)
@endoergic4 protect your lover ones by keeping them home. Let’s not forget this began with you being pissed that people weren’t jumping at your requests as you told them how to do there jobs. How dare I? Who do you think you are?

@coda77197 why are you so mad?
by (3.1k points)
I’m not. It seems like you are. You keep coming back at me . I mean if anything I’m offended that you couldn’t come up with better insults, but that’s about it.

All i posted was Ok, Karen. You blew it up.

Last week I went to Meijer and the cashier had a cold? He kept wiping his nose on his forearms
by (4.3k points)
@wilhoit66 how do you know he didn't have allergies?
by (5.3k points)
@morass686 @galway Annes he might? But with what we are going through? Seeing anyone wiping their mucus all over their arms? I think it is would be unsettling for anyone
by (4.3k points)
@wilhoit66 I understand, but just the first instance when I am out in cooler air when I go for my walks often my nose starts to leak that doesn't mean that I'm sick, it just means that the cold has affected my nose. My sinuses. Also if I eat something hot like warm to the touch, but that will make my nose leak also again I'm not sick. And especially in this time of the season there are many people that have allergies. granted he should not be wiping his nose and on his shirt or sleeve, but then again it makes it kind of hard if he's in a position where he has to do his job.

We are at risk when those handling our foods are not masked up. Are you not listening to the CDC? Your disregard is astonishing.
by (14.8k points)
@endoergic4 you aren’t. Those masks aren’t stopping anything.
by (1.5k points)
@woodsy not at risk? Then you surely disagree with the CDC, and the Governor. If we aren’t at risk, then you don’t believe there is any virus, and it’s all a big hoax?
by (2.5k points)
I imagine it must be exhausting to live in an area where people listen to medical experts and such in the midst of a pandemic if you do not believe in any of that science or virus mumbo jumbo.

Maybe ordering for curbside pick up would be better.
by (4.3k points)
@hyland5 Agreed! Be well!
by (5.6k points)
@endoergic4 I know. My husband will only do the shopping because he wants to pick his own stuff and feels safer doing it himself.
by (5.6k points)
@polygynous thank you, you too
by (1.5k points)
@hyland5 yes it can drive you crazy. The CDC says there has been over 45, 000 home poisonings due to unsafe sanitizing practices in the USA since this virus started.
by (5.6k points)
@endoergic4 yikes. That’s scary. We wipe everything down and wash it really well. It takes more time to wipe everything down, then it does to shop.

Are they really not letting people go in without masks?
by (1.5k points)
@aldarcy they make people wear masks to go in the store, but do not enforce that their cashiers or food stockers wear them! Does that make any sense?
by (1.4k points)
No it doesn't make sense at all.

@aldredge it’s our civic duty to let others know. especially senior citizens who are more at risk about this issue. I also work in the health industry.
by (2.3k points)
@aldredge ha hey man how are you coping with all of this? Are you wearing a mask when you go in a store? Lol
by (2.3k points)
Honestly, no.
by (800 points)
@aldredge you complained about wearing a mask in public places.
by (2.3k points)
I never complained, I said I wouldn't do it.

Maybe you should choose delivery next time. I cannot imagine what these poor people go through.
by (14.8k points)
@perpetual haven’t been able to schedule but one Walmart delivery in a month. Pick ups just as hard. At one point they had it shut down to two days and both were full. I only have 9 toes so I avoid going in. I’ve had to go in. You couldn’t get food otherwise. I have a pickup on Saturday. that I set up last week Sunday. It’s crazy.

Your first issue was going to Walmart in the 1st place. Have you seen some of the scum that shop there? (Not saying everyone who shops there is scum before someone assumes something).
by (2.3k points)
"Have you seen some of the scum that shop there? " is saying that very thing lol
by (800 points)
@aldredge nah it’s saying some, not all. They don’t have videos of the “people of Walmart” for nothing
by (2.3k points)
Those are pretty funny videos

@aldredge they are hilarious

Get a grip lady. You are not the mask police. You have no idea what these people who are working everyday are going through. It is not easy to wear masks all day and they are trying. As long as you have your mask on and you go home and wash your hands you are fine. Stop being so anal that you think you are right. You have no idea. What is this world coming to. Absolutely shameful. Also if you're that paranoid in public you should really consider home delivery! And stay your ass home.
by (14.8k points)
@russel the CCP. The corona crimes police. New pritzker initiative. No pay but you get to act like a fool and shame people who don’t believe the exact same thing you believe.

It sucks but these employees arent trained by their employers on proper use of masks. Thats not their norm and it's a totally new concept for them. Unless you've gone thru healthcare training, you dont know any better. ‍♀️

I'm a bit confused, why is it limited to people 10 & over? Don't they think children get sick and spread their terms? Why are they exempt?
by (14.8k points)
@morass686 @galway Annes 2. Not 20
by (4.3k points)
@woodsy I hit a 20 instead of a 10 my understanding is the face coverings for people 10 and over. Meaning 10 years and over why is it they think it's somebody 10 years and younger doesn't need to wear a face mask they carry just as many germs they're not as cautious as some people. So why are they exempt?
by (970 points)
Its for 2 and over. :)
by (4.3k points)
@smog12657 I stand corrected. I looked it up, I think I seen your people saying that was people over 10 years old. Again I stand corrected.
by (970 points)
@morass686 @galway Annes no worries. Lots of info out there to filter through.

Some people do have a difficult time breathing with the masks. not making excuses. but people with asthma or other respiratory problems do. in which case they should probably be given periodic breaks to go outside and “take a breath”. their bosses would probably not be happy. but we would!. If you watch TV and see the faces of the doctors and nurses when they take off their masks, you can see the redness, etc. There were some businesses that told their employees that if they wanted masks that they would have to buy them themselves!. So much for those businesses caring more about$ than caring about their employees AND customers!
by (2k points)
@gutty i have breathing issues, anxiety, and im claustrophobic so i cannot wear a mask at all, i would suffocate.
by (670 points)
@aldarcy Yes, I know there are people with these medical issues, so my comments were addressed to those who could not stay at home and that businesses should make some allowance so that people like yourself could still work if they had to, but also follow safety guidelines as you are also at a greater risk.
by (1.5k points)
@aldarcy I have respiratory problems, use an inhaler, and have to wear a mask all day at work.

by (14.8k points)
@ectoenzyme tried that? I’ve gotten one delivery since March. Had to get up at 4 am to schedule pick ups. For weeks they only had two days available. I’m at puck up now. I already started a placeholder order for next week to get a time for next Friday.
