Hi All, Any one lives in this area Estes & dale st at 60018? If so what do you think bout it? There are some good houses over there.

I live near Estes. I love my neighbors. We do occasionally have issues with car break-ins and this week my car had its mirror knocked off of it while parked on the street. But besides that good area.

@varian I did not mean thing bad and I am sorry if you feel offended because of my comment. You are totally right every city has bad and good areas. I am just asking because I am planning to move there with my family but I do not anything about Des plaines.

@mulley I wish I could offer insight into the school I went there for a couple months and that was it. There wasn’t anything wrong there when I was attending. My younger brother was there longer and no complaints.

@mulley. We've been in the area for 8 years. Teachers and the staff at Orchards are all great. Only issue we've have was a car break in , like others have mentioned, four years ago. Over all very quiet area with good neighbors.

@mulley no worries, Des Plaines plaines is a good city to live, there are a couple seedy areas, low income rentals, I would suggest driving around and seeing for your self.

We are on the other side of touhy but closer to Howard. Never any issues other than 1 crabby neighbor. We've been here 4 years and love the area.

There have been a series of car break ins all over Des Plaines and other NW suburbs in the last year. It’s not specifically only Des Plaines. The police told us they believe it is people that drive in from the city and steal packages off your porch as well as car break ins. They caught a couple of guys last fall and it seems better. Just lock your car doors. They are not breaking windows. But if you leave your door unlocked it could be gone through.

The only thing I would be cautious about the southside of Des Plaines is it’s in a flight path for the airplanes near O’Hare. It is very loud! I live just a little further more north, but not by much, and there is a considerable difference! I live north of Algonquin just south of downtown in between River Road and Lee Street. What I like about that area is it’s within walking distance to a lot of places, including the library… And very good schools!
