The tree in front of our house in between the sidewalk and the street looks like it needs a trim as a pretty big branch looks to be cracked and in danger of falling near the street soon. Newbie homeowner questions: 1. Is this the responsibility of the homeowner or the city? I'm seeing info from the Des Plaines Forestry website that says it's in charge of trimming trees in "public areas" / "public rights-of-way". Not sure if this applies to this area. 2. If it's the homeowner's responsibility, can I get recommendations for good cheap local tree trimming companies people have tried? Thanks!

Use the city 411 app to submit a request. They do these on a rotating schedule but will often come out on request.

Anything between the sidewalk and the street is the City's responsibility.
