No such thing as free stuff. We will make up for that in water bills and gas tax

They said they were going to raise the gas taxes instead of making us buy a sticker.

Don't buy gas in DP/Crook County when you are so close to Du Page.

@yoho303 LOL I go to Bensenville, paid $1. 43 a gallon 3 wks ago

@deflower81328 Yep . me too.

@yoho303 last I checked, gas tax is 6 cents a gallon in Cook and 4 cents a gallon in DuPage, you'll burn more gas for that 2 cents savings than you'll gain by driving there

Total of 7 cents in DP now. So if it's worth going out of your way to save a buck a tank.

I don't live too far from there and it's a nice drive maybe 10 mins and I only fill up with gas once every 3 or 4 weeks so it's not a hardship. :)

No more city stickers, but our water rates did go up in January or February. There’s a trade off.
by (1.2k points)
@factorage what are the rates at now ?
by (1.4k points)
Do you have Illinois American Water?
by (4.1k points)
@sexist granted its not a big increase for water rates as most pay $30 for city stickers, so they would rather eliminate those. I’m happy to hear that is finally happening. But we just qualified for the $5 senior rate for city stickers.

@factorage thank you for sharing this information. I haven’t been living in des plaines long, so this is good to know.

You don't even have to drive far, Mt Prospect Costco seems to be the cheapest in the area.

I read that the council thought the gas tax was more fair than the stickers because it applies to more people. Cars that belong to non-residents passing through in addition to residents.
